Great replacement for a Trane
Fixed a mushroom capacitor on a Trane unit. It's what came out and it's what I put back in. Fit the same and works the same.

Test your AC unit OEM start capacitor first to see if it needs replacement.
Many times people will purchase a boost capacitor to solve hard starting compressors or dimming of lighting during AC startup. Checking the OEM start capacitor could show a weak or faulty unit. This was the case with my 17 year old 18 SEER American Standard Unit. The OEM was weak and a ClimaTek replacement capacitor was an excellent fit with a fair price.

Research paperwork to get the right one.
Replacement for a Trane XE 1000 model. Noticed the unit starting a bit slower. Remove and checked capisitor, it was on the weak side. This was a direct replacement. Starts better now. Before you replace, dig the paperwork out of the unit and check to see which Capisitor you need. We have two XL1000's, but they take different Capisitor since they are different models. It's new, so unsure of the value. It has been working for 3 weeks now with no problems. I also dated it. The one I removed was from 98. (Original)

Near perfect replacement cap
Well designed, solid construction. HVAC cranked up and ran!... for about 10 minutes.Turns out the dual start capacitor was also going bad and this one working finished off the other. If you have two and your system is old, go ahead and replace both!
