I ordered these for the dimensions listed, 18x1x1, I received an 18 inch downrod with 3/4 inch diameter. There are no threads, just pin holes on each end - which is what I wanted (besides needing a 1 inch diameter).

Necessary for most.
Not much to say but you need this if you have a vaulted ceiling OR your ceiling is way high up.Make sure you get the right finish to match the hardware on the fan.

How stupid is it of Emerson to make their down rods different from everyone else. Anyway, it did what it was supposed to do.

No threads.
Although the photo showed a pin hole on only one side, both sides had a pin hole and neither side had threads to screw into fan base.
