The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story
Kazushige Nojima, one of Final Fantasy VII fathers, knows how to write a story in the world of FF7 and make it interesting. Great characters as well, new and returning. Some of the new characters introduced in this book, like Kyrie or Leslie appeared later in Final Fantasy VII Remake video game. Very good read.

A Nostalgic Dive for FFVII Fans
Final Fantasy VII: Lateral Biography Turks is a solid companion piece for fans of the classic video game. The book delivers plenty of nostalgia, with references and nods to the original story and its world that long-time fans will appreciate. It’s intriguing to see the Turks and their operations fleshed out, giving more context to their role in the Final Fantasy VII universe. That said, while the nostalgia factor is high, the story itself didn’t fully resonate with me. It’s decent but didn’t always hit the emotional highs I was hoping for. If you’re coming into this expecting the same level of depth and engagement as the game, you might feel a bit let down.Still, for fans eager to revisit Midgar and its gritty underbelly, it’s worth a read. Just temper your expectations, and you’ll likely enjoy this for what it is—a nice slice of FFVII lore that adds a bit more dimension to the world and characters.

An excellent story for fans.
Although this story is a prequel to Advent Children, it would make zero sense unless you had first seen Advent Children, but I actually liked that, it didn’t waste time explaining things we already knew from Advent Children. The “fan service” is very very strong in this story, and very forced too, at some points certain names where shoehorned-in so badly it made me laugh. But, that being said, as a fan, simply reading these names again made me smile greatly. And some of the references of places and minor side characters will test the memory of even the most fanatical fans :-)An excellent addition to the FF7 world.

A nice addition to the FFVII lore.
Being a big fan of the original Final Fantasy VII game and its saga, I knew I needed to add this to my collection next to On the Way to a Smile. This is more or less a sidestory to the events between the original game and the movie sequel, but it serves as a nice addition to the lore of FFVII.
