Salamander AV Basics SDAV2 7224 (Wenge Espresso)

A Contemporary furniture with no compromise to the quality. I first saw it in Magnolia - Best Buy and in love with it. Got a better price in Amazon and bought it from here. It easily fts my Onkyo AV receiver, Playstation,Modem, Routers,Playstation, Apple TV and still there are space left.It really complements my house decor. if you are looking for a contemporary TV stand of Top quality, Then Salamander is the brand you have to look for.One thing to note, This is a heavy item came assembled already, except for the inner adjustable shelves( which is very easy to assemble). You will definitely need atleast 2 people to place it in your house as in my case Fedex freight placed it in my garage and one single person can not lift this heavy item.

Love the Design but It says in the website the top holds up to 200lbs. I really like this cabinet and I like the IR transparent smoked glass doors - looks great and easily pass IR commands to the components. HOWEVER, I find that all too many AV cabinets appear to be designed by people who don't know much about home theater equipment sizes and weights. With this cabinet, I had to make three very sturdy custom shelves for my equipment to fit and function properly. There is a 4" high grooved support piece in the back for the sliding panel covers - as a consequence you have to raise the bottom of the receiver or other equipment by 4" for all the wires and connectors to clear (mine weights almost 60 lbs which exceeds the weight capacity of the supplied adjustable shelves and is deeper than the cabinet). For the bottom center component area you have to build a shelf that raises the floor by at least 2 inches for the IR sensor on your equipment to "see" the remote control IR transmission. Also, because the back of the center channel speaker compartment is sealed, there is an annoying cavity resonance that I had to contend with (resolved with acoustic damping material). Finally, for a high power receiver (which throws off a lot of heat) you MUST USE FAN VENTILATION! That's a lot of extra work for a $1400+ cabinet. Nevertheless, I am very happy with it now that I've resolved all the support and ventilation issues.

Purchased a Samsung 75" Smart TV 3 years ago and it sits on top of this bad boy. This cabinet i well constructed and built like a tank, but is elegant enough to sit in the most demanding setting. I did some upgrades on the cooling system to fit my design but if your needing a well made piece of furniture to support your TV and Gear look no further Salamander NAILS IT! ~Duke

Salamander was just what the doctor order. It was the biggest cabinet I could find for my 92" DLP TV. I was a little concern it could not hold the weight or even the physical size of the TV but it just barely made it. I had to tilt it back a little because the base of the TV hangs off the front a little but the adjustment screws in the base worked great. I did this just to add some peace of mind that the TV would not fall forward. The solid wood appears to be able to handle the weight. No bowing in the middle of the cabinet which would have been a sign that it could not handle the weight. So far so good.
