The Reading TEacher's Book of Lists is good for any Elementary Teacher to have and use on a daily basis. There are lists of just about anything you need to teach reading. I found myself using this constantly in the classroom, right in front of the kids. Our spelling list was based on the use of silent letters. The kids wanted to know what other words there were, so we looked it up and came up with a large list to talk about.I found that the students were having a hard time with certain word spellings during writing and looked up in the book the spelling demons. Together we made a list on chart paper to post in the room. Their spelling improved immeadiately because they just looked up at the wall and saw the words.The book is truly made for teachers! It is well laid out and easy to locate certain lists for your given need.

As a Speech Pathologist, I am always looking for word lists and a "go to" for therapy. This book is it! I have other books of lists etc but this one is just the best I have seen. Get it if you can find it!

I would also recommend Jim Burke's Reading Reminders:Tools, Tips, and Techniques as a companion to this.

Wow, I was amazed at the wealth of information in this treasure trove of solutions. There are story ideas, words, whys and hows of getting it together and making it accessible for every age group. I will use this book again and again and again. It is crammed with information. Never look for a topic or idea again--it's all here. It's amazing. The format is user friendly, and a great way to find what you need, what you want to write about, and so much more.

Over 500 pages of much more than just word lists, this book includes helpful suggestions for literacy teaching by knowledgeable educators. There are instruction and practice strategies for word study, spelling, phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary building, and other components of a complete literacy program. This book will save me countless frustrating internet searches for appropriate words to use for a wide variety of teaching purposes. Three words of advice: get this book.

Gave my copy away to a friend -- kept this one because of the new Spanish section. This is the third time I have bought this wonderful book for use with my students and for my own edification.
