I read the other reviews and I agree with just about all of them. I needed a rack for my F-250's bed so I can take our bikes on vacation. I wanted them upright and didn't like the hitch carrier we use on our car and I needed something that was easily removeable. When it came in, I found the instructions were a little vague on the lack of a third full size spacer for the rack. The rack seemed adjustable, but I couldn't figure it out. I called Heininger and they were very helpful and all I had to do was "coax" the middle uprights together on the back frame a little with a rubber mallet to get the front together to lock it in place. Heininger was right, the additional spacer is not needed, the instructions were a little lacking on this info though. The rack doesn't seem adjustable with the full size spacers right out of the box, but it is. You will need a strap to keep the bikes upright as they will move some driving, but as another reviewer posted, it's no big deal. Take your time mounting it and make sure it hits the bed with the rubber feet well. It's a little tough on my Ford with the curves on the bed at the bottom, but it works. Overall, I like it a lot, it fits the need I had. The fact it is removeable, easy to put together (with the above exception), and has the the security cable to lock everything to the truck is great. And the fact Heininger was so helpful when I called is a big plus too.

For being "universal" they did the best they could with the installation. It is pretty much easy on, but if someone wants to steal it...easy off. But I attached some anti-theft locking brackets to it so that it would be a challenge to get off. As far as the use...It works fine with my bikes (32" beach cruiser, 26" mountain bike and 2 20" bmx dirt bikes). It has a tire locking clamp that slides down to grip the tire and once engaged, the bikes are fairly stable. I still need to run a strap across the frame to solidify the tie down, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I follow the recommended method of loading the bikes with the rear wheel to the rack and there is a slight issue of the chain hitting the rack, but it doesn't get in the way. Once it hits, I clamp it in that position and done. My 32" beach cruiser, I have to go in front tire first because I have a long fender on the rear that I wouldn't dare put through the rack, but it ties down just fine. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. Makes my life just a little bit easier when it comes to transporting my bikes around.

I purchased this bike rack for my full-sized chevy silverado pickup with a roll back tonneau cover. It fit perfectly just below the tonneau rail on my truck. I leave it installed all the time and can still roll my cover open and closed. When the tonneau is rolled closed you can not tell that the rack is installed in the bed. I haul 2 adult size mountain/hybrid bikes and 2 kids mountain/hybrid bikes and it works well. I use a ratcheting strap wrapped around each bike seat and connected to the chevy bed hooks. I have been on a couple camping trips and had no movement from the 4 bikes. Perfect. I find that the bike cable supplied with the bike rack is too short for my setup, so I use 2 bike cables to lock my 4 bikes to the truck.

I wanted a bike rack for my ford F150 truck bed. I have a trailer hitch model and also a car trunk model but my wife has trouble with either of those. Something like this looked promising as she hopefully could just park the wheel in the rack and be gone. Not so. It was a pain to assemble this rack and get it "even" so that it would sit well. Then cranking it into the bed was not bad for me but no way will my wife be able to heave this into the truck bed and do it herself. one of her bikes is one of those beach cruiser types with fenders. Doesn't fit. A slim road bike is no problem. Also the clamp down bar on the wheel doesn't hold well. I used bungee cords and tie downs from corner to corner like I was transporting a motorcycle. Material wise it is cheap metal prone to rust. I will wait and see how long it lasts and I will have to paint it often. for the price with free shipping I am not complaining. I can use it and will but not the ease I thought.

Do not buy this product if you want an easy to assemble and quality bike rack. First problem was trying to hook up the support brackets, which was only step two of the process. One of the brackets was bent so badly that I need to get out a wrench to bend the metal back so the support rod would fit in the bracket. There was no damage to the shipping box or the finish on the rack (at least not until after I had to bend it back and the finish cracked off) so it looks like it came like that from the factory. That was still an easy fix compared to dealing with the improperly threaded nut welded to the frame. Since the nut was stripping whichever mounting bolt I tried to use it will make the rack very difficult to put in and out of the truck and after a few uses the bolt will probably be so stripped that I won’t be able to use it anymore. Not to mention since the mounting bolt was stripped of its protective coating as well as the support rod bracket, the product will also probably start rusting out pretty quickly. The rack seems like it would be a good rack if there was any quality control in place before shipping. Unfortunately since I need it for an upcoming camping trip I’m m stuck with the frustration of trying to assemble a product with no quality control and knowing after all this hassle I will probably end up having to throw it away after the summer.

Estuve mucho tiempo buscando un rack para la cama de mi pickup, prácticamente no hay opciónes, solo las "cobijas" de la tapa y las versiones montadas en el chasis. Este es buenísimo por que puedes colocar hasta 4 bicis y queda muy firme en la caja. Por el precio esta regalado.

Easy to assemble, easy to install in my full size pickup. (I was transporting 4 e-bikes so they were heavy so I did use a ratchet strap through all the rear wheels for extra security). Overall very pleased with the purchase.

This rack has some limits; it will not accommodate wheels larger than 26" or wider than 2.375"; it will not accommodate disc brakes, and bikes must be loaded backwards with the rear wheel in the rack,so care must be taken to avoid damaging the rear derailleur. If your bike collection fits these limits, this looks like a good solution.

Very pleased with this purchase. This is a strong frame and should work well in transporting our two bikes in the back of our F150. Easy to assemble, instructions were reasonable. Overall a good product for the sale price.
