How high is the top bunk? Is this safe for my 5-year-old?

The top bunk is 49.2" tall so it's safe for small kids.

Is the ladder fixed or can it be moved to either side?

The ladder is fixed at the front of the bed, which allows it to work in various bedroom layouts. The side table and storage unit can be installed on either the left or right, depending on your room setup.

How hard is this to put together and how long does it take?

Based on our assembly test, it usually takes 1-3 hours or faster with 2 adults.

Do I need box springs?

Our low bunk beds don't require a box spring. Just put a mattress it'll work perfectly.
