GREAT track, but.....
Kato Unitrack is of the highest quality available as far as combined track / roadbed options go, the connections are solid and tight and provide excellent conductivity. If one wanted a temporary setup for a Christmas display, or a smaller layout ect, I would highly recommend spending extra for the Kato products.A medium to large layout with a lot of switching action built exclusively with Kato will quickly get expensive however, I have found, after purchasing over $1000 worth of Kato #6 elec turnouts, that Atlas, and Im certain all other code 83 ho track / switches will easily mate with the Kato Unitrack by removing the plastic snap in Kato track connector and using regular rail connectors. The connections will require a shim under the non-Kato accessory to make up for the roadbed thickness and will not lock together as securely as the Kato assembly, but depending on the number of switches your layout requires, a little extra work could save hundreds to be spent on, well, many options. The great many options available for every aspect of model railroading today are absolutely mind boggling so if you are just beginning, take some time to educate yourself and find a way to become familiar with the hobby before spending $.Ohh if only I could start from scratch 🙄Cheers!

Worth it!!!
I really love this track. I have a whole bunch of Atlas track, enough to do a descent size layout (which I have yet to do). I had been apprehensive to switch to Kato because it meant starting over collecting what I needed. Plus the cost seemed high. I pulled the trigger last Christmas, and I'm very pleased that I did. The track is very solid and looks great. It easily snaps together and stays securely connected, which works great if you just want to throw something together on a low pile carpet. It's easy to quickly switch your ideas around when you change your mind. Whether you're doing a permanent layout, or a temporary one, you can't go wrong with Kato.

Great Quality Product
This product works great! Very easy to assemble and snap the pieces of track together. I can easily un-snap and re-configure my layout using Kato unitrack. Very smooth ride for the engine and cars. Very nice product.

Great set, top quality
Nice looking and top quality as anything from kato...You set up this in just minutes and is easily dismounted...I bought this with the idea of do a permanent layout little by little, as i have no experience laying traditional track without roadbedIf you add a little weathering to the roadbed it looks superb.Really pleased with this set

Two good switches cost as mush as this set
I am an experienced modeler, to the point of hand-laying track and turnouts, but I needed a simple and reliable setup to use as a portable test track. Something that I could program DCC locomotives and diagnose equipment problems from a workbench and not on a layout. I wanted a modular track system because it offers rigidity and dependable joints. This set is a lot for the money. Two good switches cost as mush as this set. The switches can be set up as power routing or not which is nice for creating easy-power blocks. With this set (and I added some track bumpers for a finished look) I have a test track that's ready to go. All I needed to do was fasten it down to a strip of plywood. I'm skilled at soldering, so I opted not to purchase the feeder track, instead soldering my own power feeds to the track which in-turn are connected to a non-kato power source.

Switches suck.
The switches are terrible. For the price, they should work without issue. The spring that helps hold it in place is too weak causing the switch to wiggle as locomotives or cars go through resulting in derailments, damage to equipment and general frustration. For supposed “top quality” (and the price) this stuff is a joke.
