Filter attachment not secure
I can't give 2.5 stars, so I will give 3, allowing for my ineptitude at replacing these. I bought these filters as a replacement set for my Kenmore undersink RO unit. I removed the filters in the order of water through the unit and intended on replace in reverse order. In the removed canisters, each element was preconditioned in RO water collected from the previous set. The polishing filter went in and installed with no issue as did the separately purchased RO element. When it came to the prefilter, I hit a snag. The small bucket I was using to collect overflow and leakage put a slight right angle pressure on the filter unit and it promptly separated the filter itself from the upper casing. I'm not terribly happy with the purchase but I won't completely blame the manufacturer as I was partly to blame for the 90 degree force on the filter. I do feel that the canister should not have separated under the slight pressure applied to it. I suppose that I could have requested a replacement, but when I get to the point of cleaning everything out from under the sink and providing myself with enough space to actually do the work, I'm not even remotely in the mood to wait another several days for a replacement. As a result, I will be wary of products from this company. My final solution? Use the previous set's polishing filter as this set's prefilter. Yeah, not happy about a new filter element going directly into the trash.

Need Better Quality Control
I would give these 5 stars except the bottom purple cap fell off of one of the filters and I was hesitant to use household glue to reattach, being it's a water filter. That made it a bit tricky to hold it in place while installing. I noticed by reading other reviews that this appears to be an ongoing issue. Other than that, they looked to be of the same construction as the originals and are doing the job.I would buy again.

Not As Advertised
Decent filters, but are not "Sears Kenmore 38476" brand/product, as the title indicates! Kinda shady, if you ask me!!

Don't. You really do get what you pay for, at least with this product. Buy the Sears brand.
Before I ordered these replacement filters for my Sears Kenmore UltraFilter 500 Reverse Osmosis under-sink water filtration system, I read through all the reviews about this product - and wondered if the competitors seeded the list with negative reviews to stop customers from choosing the cheaper product. There were many comments that, although being positive with 3-5 stars, said their water flow began to slow down and even stopped flowing completely, after 3-6 months. They wrote it as if to state that it was normal and expected - as it's recommended by all RO Water Filter companies to change out the filters every 6 months. But for all the decades I've owned and maintained RO filter systems, my water never stopped flowing or even slowed down - not once. That shouldn't happen - period. You may get dirty water, and the taste isn't as good as a new filter, but it shouldn't slow down or stop all together. That's just ridiculous. But I figured I would go ahead and save a few bucks and try out the cheap replacement filters for a change instead of buying the tried and true, top quality, most expensive Sears brand charcoal carbon bloc replacement filters like I usually do.So I received the order as promised. No critique in that regard. But when I began to read the package and literature, and then instructions, the first clue I had that these were of inferior quality, from a vendor/supplier that doesn't know squat about drinking water filtration systems, is the direction to place silicone sealant on the rubber gasket of the cartridge and cartridge housing to prevent leaks. I've owned multiple brands of under-sink Reverse Osmosis water filtration systems and I also have a whole-house filter inline just after my well storage tank in the basement - and they all say to use vegetable oil or other safe food-grade oil on the rubber gaskets. Not silicone sealant. I want to be able to remove the filter the next time I change it, don't you? And I don't want to drink silicone, do you?So then I removed the first cartridge from the plastic wrapping and following the instruction, I placed it in the empty housing and placed the housing under the faucet and turned on the water to medium-cold with a gentle pressure, (not fast, full-open), to flush it for the recommended minimum of five minutes. I picked up the filter by the top plastic end to rearrange it so the water would soak into it and noticed the plastic netting that is wrapped around the filter was immediately slipping and sliding out and off the filter. That has never happened with all the other replacement filter cartridges I've purchased (charcoal carbon bloc style). And furthermore, these are at least 5-10 cm smaller in diameter (just eye-balling it) as well as a good 1 or 2 ounces - (probably more) lighter than the Sears brand replacement cartridges that I usually purchase - granted for much more money. But there is truth in the phrase "you get what you pay for." Boy am I regretting this purchase! Coconut shell carbon????? What the heck is that?So I will go ahead and finish flushing the cartridge, and install it, but I will never buy this type of cartridge from this company, ever again.

Good filters.
These are the filters that came with the original unit. The unit's almost 20 years old so it's good to find filters for this unit. The price is reasonable.
