California Costumes Colonial Man/Benjamin Franklin Child Costume

I bought this for my son who dressed up as Ben Franklin for a report. He wore it twice for the presentations. It fit him perfectly. I bought a large (10-12) - my son is 11 and stick thin (he wears an 8 in pants/shorts). He'll wear it again for another colonial dress up day, so I'm glad I bought it!

My son's class had a Colonial Day at school and he needed a costume to wear for the celebration. This fit the bill perfectly. These do run a little small but I will say my son is on the large size. I ordered an XL and it was a big snug on him. Good quality overall and would recommend.

This costume is well made for the price point. Comes with the jacket, vest, and frilly collar insert as pictured. Also included are the black knee pants. It's true to size and worked very well for 5th grade colonial days for my son. He wore it on two separate occasions and it held up fine. It's higher quality than many Halloween costumes. The pants are a little cheap, but the jacket/vest/shirt look quite nice and we will be able to reuse them in the future. If you're considering this for a similar colonial days project or something of the like, I would recommend this.

FYI the wig was not included but we only needed the costume. The package includes the jacket (with sew on vest), a cravat (neck) piece, and a pair of pants (which we didn't use). The material for the jacket was thick, crinkly like pulpy paper, and definitely cannot be wash. I'm pretty sure it will just fall apart if it touches too much water. The tag says to only spot clean. I was able to iron it just fine. The cravat and pants are made of thin nylon materials and the cravat can be secure with a single velcro on the back of the neck. The pants are a bit tiny for my 14yo and was definitely made with a boy's hip in mind. Overall very cute. We needed for an Isaac Newton project and not Ben Franklin and it worked out great.

Got this for my son for Halloween. We used it as a Billy Butcherson costume and it was perfect. I was expecting the entire costume, though, because of the picture. It is only the coat, pants and the cravat - not the socks, wig, buckles for the shoes, an undershirt or the key - we had to buy the socks, under shirt and shoe-buckles separate. We wouldn't have used the wig anyway (we had to get a black one) but I was surprised that it didn't even have that yet it was specifically called a 'Benjamin Franklin' costume, not just a 'colonial boy' costume or something more general.

This costume fit my size 8 son perfectly. He wore it for two days - school presentation and a field trip to do the presentations at a nursing home. It has held up well through elementary school recess time both days. It was the right price and will last for younger siblings to use in the future. I bought this costume, a Ben Franklin wig, glasses, and adult size white knee socks. My son wore his black tennis shoes and I made gold shoe buckled out of some vinyl. His costume was a hit! It could also be used for any colonial costume, perhaps be modified into a pirate costume if need be... I might add a three point hat if it is needed for any other colonial projects. Would also work for Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington. My son can be particular about itchy things, but this costume was not a problem.

The costume itself was some real sturdy and well made quality fabric. My 10 year old got a size medium for a school play. She is petite and can wear a size 7-8 and unfortunately the jacket part of the costume didn’t fit her as it was too small in the shoulder area. Otherwise, the costume was amazing, wish she could have worn it! Would definitely recommend.
