More realistic than you’d think!
For context, every year I plan a themed birthday cake for my husband. Covid? Toilet paper. Bought our first house? House cake. He caught a huge bass? Fish cake. You get the idea. So this year he rescued a red eared slider from our pool and seemingly brought it back to life. It is now our new pet. You see where this is going. I thought I’d buy a kid’s toy and use it as a cake topper. I picked this one, expecting it to not look as realistic as the photo. I was wrong. It looks even MORE realistic in person. My 6 year old niece screamed in horror when the cake box was opened, and the rest of the family made faces that landed between intrigued, concerned, and disgusted. Eventually we all had a good laugh. Fast forward to after the party, I started to wash the icing off this turtle and left it to soak in the sink, not thinking much about it. To my husband’s horror, he thought a live turtle had somehow gotten into our home and ended up in our sink. He told me about the momentary scare, we laughed, and that was it - until I got home and had an idea. I finished washing it, then hid it in our cabinet with our plates so it would fall out when he opened the cabinet, and I patiently waited for dinner. I asked him to get the plates and nearly wet myself laughing as he jumped. The turtle is now missing, and war has been declared in our home. We might never open anything in our home with peace of mind again, but this was completely worth every penny. I highly recommend!

Very Realistic - Scares Birds!
I've made a simple bird bath with a plastic dip tray having 6-areas for crackers, and the center circle for dip. (Found it in a thrift store.) That's sitting on top of some cinder blocks, and works great! Very easy to keep clean, and I wanted some kind of decoration for the center. I found an indoor little ceramic angel at the thrift store, and glued that to a rock for stability and weight. That worked for awhile, but the deer wander by and try to drink from the bird bath. The angel broke when the whole thing got tipped over. So I wanted something weather- and waterproof, and indestructible. I have about a 6-inch diameter in the center to work with, and found this painted turtle. I figured I'd lay it on a rock, and if it worked, glue it to the rock later. I see these turtles all the time, out fishing, and figured I'd put it on a stone, "basking in the sun." I need the weight of the stone so wind doesn't blow the thing off the cinder blocks if it's out of water. Good: It arrived, looked good, I put it out on the bird bath and kept an eye on it from the kitchen window. Not too long after, I watched some birds come to use the bath, but then flap their wings and back off. So I went out to take a look. Heck, I even got scared!! LOL! The problem is it looks like a smooth-ish green rock, from the top, looking at the turtle's shell. But then you see the striped legs and head poking out, and Holy Cow!....it looks like some weird monster is emerging from under a rock. This looks exactly like a painted turtle. I just hadn't ever looked closely at one from the top -- a "bird's eye view." Okay, so back to the drawing board. However; I put a different rock on the ground by the bird bath, and the turtle "basks in the sun" on that rock. It's far enough away from the water that now the birds are happy again. I think there may be a reason the expression "bird brain" entered the language! :-) Fun times, though.

Cute face and pose
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I picked this because I liked the head looking to the side. More realistic. The color isn't super realistic on the head and neck but the face is cute and the pose is realistic. My 5 year old loves it. I brought it to the doctor and the nurse saw it in the floor and thought it was real. It's the perfect size and hollow so it floats in the bath. My dog stole it and chewed the face and she cried pretty bad. I had to buy another one.

Turtle tricks
I have two of these now and place them around outside to confuse visitors. They get so excited seeing the turtles. Very realistic.

Good product, it works well for me in doing turtle presentations at a wildlife center. As a toy or decoration it's probably a bit over-priced but the quality is good, I do like it and I'm glad I bought it. Though the package was clearly marked "FRAGILE", either U.S. or Canada Post had a field day with it, the box was wide open at one end and looked like someone had taken a mallet to it. Surprisingly, the turtle was still in the box and intact, I'd expected it to be broken.
