Durable, true matte finish with exceptional hold.
I have pretty thick, short/medium length hair that has beaten almost every product I've ever put in it. Historically, the only ones that have been able to tame my mane have been equally thick, heavy gels that leave my hair looking like a shiny, crusty helmet. This doesn't do that. This is honestly one of the best hair pastes I've ever used. The matte finish is truly matte - no shine whatsoever. I don't like to shower every day, and I only need a small amount to control my hair FOR DAYS. Long lasting is an understatement. It "reactivates" with water, which is also a bonus, and washes out when it's time without issue. The instructions say to apply to dry hair only though, not damp or wet - heed these. It makes a difference. I can't recommend it enough.

It is now my favorite hair clay
I have thinning hair, especially sparse around my crown. My best look comes from parting my hair on the left, and grooming my hair upwards, sort of spiky. I used to be an inveterate user of Boogie hair clay which is no longer available. Alternative products such as Boogie’s Pacific Pomade are nice, with a high hold and sheen that is flattering, but not as effective as the clay in dealing with the thinning hair situation. In other words, clay works best for me.I initially didn’t like Hairplexx because it was so hard to the touch, not creamy and smooth, so it sat on a bathroom shelf, unused. It was only until I was out of my pomade product and waiting its replacement that I tried Hairplexx again. It is now my favorite hairclay.I was using it all wrong. What I came to figure out is that the very properties that make it so hard and difficult to the touch are exactly what is needed to keep my hair in form during my entire day. The application of heat is essential. I think I actually read this tip in another review, but basically what I do is take a semi-generous dime size amount and put it in my left palm then I rub my two palms together to flatten the clay and then I apply to my hair, vigorously rubbing on your scalp like your are washing your hair. Then shape into your desired style.I have my technique down and am so pleased that I gave Hairplexx the chance it deserved.

Love this styling clay which hold my hair very well and it smells good
I have a thick black hair and most of the clay product which doesn't hold my hair that well. This clay helps shape my hair and keep it in place. It has lasted a long time and the clay smells very good. For this price which I wish it comes with more. Overall, I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it.

Smells good but not good for kids
Smells really good but it’s very hard to work through my son’s hair. He always says it’s pulling and hurts even if I warm it in my hands or damp his hair. For adults it’s great I’m sure but not for my toddler 😂 I need to go with something that’s a little easier to work in.

love
Smells like "faultless" starch to me, I like it, not overpowering, can be covered with perfume/cologne if you don't like the smell.Doesn't leave any weird white residue/flakes like the "Mitch: Matterial/Reformer"I had also tried "The Cardinal Brand: Matte Texture Clay" which works really well but adds a very small amount of shine, I prefer the driest/most natural possible look. That's why I like this brand.I just take a small amount, rub it into my hands and work it into the top part of my hair like a reckless jackal, looks like you woke up that way, totally natural, no shine, makes hair look thicker.Btw, tip for anyone wanting their hair to look thicker, I learned to avoid gel/pomades/wax/mousse/pastes and instead to use a MATTE CLAY product like this. These kinds of dry styling products allow the individual hairs to fan out and cover exposed scalp instead of causing the hairs to stick together as if they are wet (like how gel/wax/etc acts). Also dont cut your hair too short at the top

Very thick. Difficult to apply.
This stuff has got to be one of the most difficult clays to use. It's very stiff and does not really apply over my hair at all. I have thick, wavy hair, and I have to apply a little more water than I'm accustomed to get this stuff over half of my hair.At least it smells good, though.

Great hold and matte look: Instructions for use
It looks great and holds my hair all day with a little water to reshape if necessary. it is really stiff to put in at first so the best way to go about it is this:The best way to apply is to put a dime sized piece in palm wet hands and work & spread into hands (make sure no clumps or you will see and feel). Places in dry hair working it all directions with a final comb through & shaping.
