Q: Is it really a good price when they add half the cost of the product in shipping?

Myself personally would not buy an item where 50% of the costs is shipping. I would have to need an item badly before I would pay that. It looks like a seller is trying to make up money on the back end. Just put all needed money on front end and have fair shipping charges. This would at least allow me to feel I am doing business with an honest person.
