Review: I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could - 🍰 This is a lovely book full of recipes from the show, or recipes that have been altered from previous seasons’ recipes, I’m glad I bought it. This book has a number of the recipes from the 8th & 9th seasons (UK) that we love. Series 9 is one of my favorite series/season, I really loved that cast (Rahul, Kim-Joy, Ruby) etc). I am disappointed however, in the cover art for this book, it feels cold and is quite boring. The image of Paul and Prue is just a 1/2 size dust jacket sleeve. I’ve also noticed the cover material is delicate, the corners show wear easily; when my book arrived, the blue color had already rubbed off the book corners. The paper is nice quality, and has a pleasant satin finish. Overall, I am glad I bought the book- UK series 9 is one of my favorites. Anything I feel should have been in the book and isn’t, I’ve mostly been able to find free on the GBBO website. One thing that may bother some, **they didn’t credit which baker made the Baker’s Recipe’s & showstoppers featured in the book** (something the season 12 book does).. I went ahead and wrote the name of the Baker for those recipes on those pages just for myself, but be aware, some of the recipes have been simplified or cleaned up (polished) because the baker had to rush during the episodes challenges and the result wasn’t finished, like Briony’s Alice and Wonderland savory pastry pie- the book recipe is changed and simplified a bit for home bakers. I had to do a bit of research for a few recipes, via the ingredient list, to be certain it was their recipe from that challenge. Recipes are labelled as: “Judges Recipes”- “Baker’s Recipe”- “Entertaining”- “Tea Time Treats”- “Inspired by the Show”- “Baking w/ Children”. I’m only listing the “Baker’s Recipes” & the “showstoppers” below. 👇🏼 Here’s a list crediting the above mentioned recipes in the book: (as they’re not credited in the book). Keep in mind these (below) 👇🏼 are the UK’s GBBO original sequential series (seasons). •Bonfire Night Ginger Cake: RAHUL (series 9) •Sticky Toffee Apple Caramel Cake: KATE (series 8) •Stem Ginger Cake w/Cream Cheese & Salted Caramel: KIM-JOY (series 9) •Gilded Pear & Cardamom Cake: TOM (series 8) •Chocolate Collar Castle Cake: (this one is simplified from the original): MANON (series 9) •One in a Melon: FLO (Series 8) •Salted Peanut Millionare Shortbread: LIAM (series 8) •Decorated Matcha Biscuits: MANON (series 9)— I believe these are a simplified version of the cookie recipe Manon used for her biscuit self-portrait, it’s the only one I’m not sure of. •Black Forest Slice: DAN (series 9)— these are also a bit simplified from his tv version. •Coffee & Amaretto Kisses: TOM (series 8) •Indian Burfi-topped Traybake: ANTONY (series 9) •Yorkshire Gingernuts w/ Lime: LUKE (series 9) •Amarspressi Biscuits: STEVENS (series 8) •Turron & Orange Traybake: BRIONY (series 9) •Sparkly Chocolate Sandwich Cookies: STACEY (series 8) •Tangy Citrus Sticky Chelsea Buns: DAN (series 9) — They changed dans recipe, removing the orange zest/juice and using only lemon. For his original version, got to the GBBO website and click his photo. •Orange Plaited Brioches: SOPHIE (series 8) •Coconut Kala Chana Breads: KATE (series 8) •Peak District Chelsea Buns: KAREN (series 9) •Mango Fruit Hat Pudding: YAN (series 8) •Ode to the Honeybee Entremet: SOPHIE (series 8) •Piña Colada Roulade: RUBY (series 9) •White Chocolate & Yuzu Entremet: (series 8) •Lemon & Black Currant Drizzle Steamed Pudding: STEVEN (series 8) •After Dinner Mint Surprise Alaska Tartlets: SANDY (Series 6) This was the only “Baker’s Recipe” from a different season. •Rainbow Meringue Centerpeace: KATE (series 8) •Mango Passionfruit Roulade: JON (series 9) •Gianduja Cannoli: SOPHIE (series 8) •Misti Singara: RAHUL (series 9) •Chocolate Ginger Sfogliatelle: STEVEN (series 8) •Savory Veggie Samosas: RUBY (series 9) •Down-the-Rabbit-Hole Banquet Pie: BRIONY (series 9) reimagined and cleaned up from tv version) •Nan’s Sunday Dinner Pie: LIAM (series 8) • Old Fashioned Minced Beef Pies: STACEY (series 8) they used the pastry top art from one of her other bakes for the book Many of the Baker’s (and others) recipes are available free online via the GBBO website, but not all. There are a lot of other bakes that are reimagined challenges from other seasons. Some of the showstoppers have been cleaned up and the appearance has changed due to the tv version looking messy or not entirely working within the time frame for the episode. So you may not recognize some, but the ingredients match the original recipe. I couldn’t place all of the showstoppers in the book. As for people not liking metric measurements here in the states…many of us have long switched to using kitchen scales for more accurate results in baking (and cooking). A digital kitchen scale is around $20 +/- here on desertcart, and I’ve never looked back after getting mine. If you’re a fan of series 8 & 9 as much as I am, you’ll enjoy this book.

“sheer perfection”
Huge fan of the show, and great recipes in this book. Some of the more difficult creations have been simplified to produce manageable results. The book is beautifully photographed. You’ll need to consult a website that explains British ingredient terms, if you aren’t familiar with the definitions. Some ingredients are best not substituted, in my opinion. For example, the British use golden syrup, where Americans use corn syrup. I order golden syrup from Amazon. Ingredients are commonly weighed, so a digital scale is a must. It’s more precise than translating metric to standard, and will make your baking results better. Once I started weighing rather than using measuring cups and spoons, I quickly became converted. A good scale is not expensive and there are plenty of choices here at Amazon. For liquid measures, today’s Pyrex cups all have metric, so no additional effort is required. If you love the show, this cookbook will probably delight you.

Great BUT UK measurements etc
Had to return because it was all in UK measurements and temps and it won’t work for the US person I was gifting BUT it’s beautiful with great recipes! Recommend for UK and folks who can comfortably convert.

love the show, love the book
i’m embarrassed to say i bought this book for 2 recipes…but then i got it and there are so many great recipes in it. also i love at the back they have information on baking techniques, tips and how tos. i love this show and as an American am often fascinated with the things they make as they aren’t often baked goods we see here. i have still have only made the 2 things but they were definitely showstoppers! my family was very impressed!

MmmmmMmmmm
Bought this for my wife for Christmas. She has been off work on maternity leave since 10/17. She watched every episode of this series during that time. She is a wonderful baker and thought she would enjoy this. Boy was I right. Great gift and even better tasting recipes.

Beautiful book with easy to follow recipes
Beautiful pictures, great recipes and I love the glossary that provides term definitions and basic explanations for beginning bakers. Would be a great gift for a new baker.

Good inspiring recipes, keep book dry since blue cover ink runs
My daughter and I have tried several of the recipes with excellent results. The presentation of the recipes is such that one is motivated to give things a go. Nice to see photographs of Manon, who was unjustly robbed of a place in the finals. Bake on bakers!
