Excellent coffee and great value
Love this coffee!!! We have bought six bags now for our espresso machine. We are used to buying Starbucks French Roast and have been buying it for 8 years since we have had our machine. Normally I go to Costco to get the Starbucks French Roast bc it is so much cheaper there than buying it at a Starbucks but it's also 30 minutes from my house. Sooooo....I saw this online when I knew we were just about out of our bag and I bought it. It's exactly the same. Exactly. Tastes delicious and has a very strong, rich French roast taste as expected.Positives:--Beans are NOT too oily to go in your machine if you have an automatic grinder. Some beans are and they will clog your machine but these are perfect--They have the exact same taste as the Starbucks French Roast. My hubs, who is picky, didn't notice the difference after an entire bag. I put it in the machine when he was gone and he never knew he was drinking something different. Yay me! I am saving money and he's happy with the coffee!Negatives;--it's a strong taste for some people, but we love it. You have to like the strong French roast taste to enjoy this.

Great coffee, even better price!
Taste: It is has very similar flavor to Starbucks Espresso or Italian Roast, which makes sense as it says "Roasted by Starbucks Coffee Co," on the bag. I made both espresso and "regular" coffee with them. With the correct grind and extraction method it makes a very good cup of coffee (I would venture a guess that beyond the folks that have reported inconsistent roast, that most people reporting poor quality with these beans should re-examine their grind and brew method).Roast: I have purchased this exact product a few times from my local Costco, and this bag was very consistent with what I was expecting. The beans were well roasted (not quite "over" roasted where they would be brittle). They had a slight sheen of oil, but weren't sticky.Freshness: I keep forgetting to check the expiration date on the bag I was sent, but it isn't a big issue. The coffee definitely tastes fresh, and expiration isn't an issue as I've gone through almost all of it in less than a month.Value: It is a great value for the price.

A good reasonably priced espresso blend.
I've bought this brand of espresso off and on over the years and have found it to be generally pretty good. Since I make up my own mix of Sumatran, espresso, french roast and Colombian and espresso is not the dominant note in my blend this one works fine, but sometimes it is less oily and not as dark as I like. There is such a fine line between bitter and bold. And, of course, we all have some different ideas about what tastes good. For me, what matters most is that the roast is really dark but not burned and that it is really fresh. Dry looking beans tend not to have a lot of flavor. Pennsylvania is not full of local roasters so I keep looking. So far Amazon has allowed me to try out a number of brands, most of which were fairly fresh and not extremely costly. I go back and forth about this brand and Altura which also makes a very good middle priced coffee. Both are so much better than what is found in a grocery store!

A total waste of time and money !!
Burnt roast, no coffee flavor. Very good crema, but absolutely no flavor. Used in my Saeco espresso machine. You definitely get what you pay for !!

Super oily so not a huge fan
Meh.... Super oily so not a huge fan. Taste was good but if you grind every time you make espresso like I do you'll have to clean the grinder a LOT

Roasted by Starbucks: Yum-ola
I hand grind my own espresso and make my morning brew in a French press. Sure, I'm using the "wrong" implements. But I'm the only one who has to love my coffee. This espresso is pretty darn good, and it's fair trade coffee. You can't go wrong. The only difference I can really tell is that these beans don't seem to be as oily as the beans sold in the 12 oz Starbucks bags from Starbucks. But if you're going to be a picky hipster, just go back to Stumptown ;) I'm on a budget.
