I bought these to replace a similar product by another brand when the others wore out. These share similar benefits and downsides. Firstly, they do the job that they're designed for, which is to curl your hair. What I find irritating is that the action of curling the hair is quite abrasive to the sponge, which means that fairly soon you notice that the sponge has eroded the areas that make contact with your hair. I have found that the bits of the sponge that come off actually end up staying in my hair. Sometimes I bend over and find small clumps of sponge falling from my head. It is also guaranteed that during hair washing there will be lots of bits ending up going down the drain. Only the Lord knows how long it will be before the drain gets blocked.
