I measured and cut per the instructions prior to cutting, the center pad didn’t line up with the corners as the factory cuts aren’t square. Them flap that hangs in front of the hearth didn’t line up and I had to throw the 3 pieces away, poor quality. Buyers beware check all 3 pieces for squareness prior to doing anything with the cutting.Update on 6/18/19:I haven’t heard a thing from the vendor.

I should've purchased this years ago! With 5 grandsons running around I've always worried about the raised hearth. No more! This pad is solid foam rubber. About 1 inch thick but so dense that all you feel on the bricks is cushion. Also, I trimmed it with household scissors because it's hard for me to cut straight with a utility knife.

This pad has saved tears and ER bills at my son’s house! I bought it over a year ago to cover the raised brick fireplace hearth at his house, and the rough-housing toddler has bumped her head against it dozens of times without injury. It arrived on time and undamaged. The installation was ok, but the fit and color passed the daughter-in-law test. The brown pad disappears on the “Chicago brick” fireplace. I used a large framing square and razor knife to cut the center section to length. They have had many fires in the fireplace without removing the pad, and no melting or burning smell.

It was very easy to install. You trim it to fit your hearth. We choose not to adhere it to our stone fireplace, but you can do this if you'd like. Its given us huge piece of mind with one active toddler and another kiddo on the way.

If it keeps your kids safe, it’s priceless... Will 100% do the job. That being said, this shouldn’t cost $122, its probably $25 dollars worth of material and VERY DYI... Effective yes, worth protecting your kids... all day, fairly priced... debatable. It’s multiple pieces that will look like your 2 year olds preschool art project

I did not follow all the directions and mine came out good enough. The padding is thick and soft. I cut with a box cutter. I put the tape on the brick then trier to lay the padding down which is wrong. The take goes on the padding! Clean the brick really good. It affects the adhesive!

The cushion came In 3 pieces (long middle piece and 2 corners). It was very easy to cut to fit and install on our hearth. The double side tape is a good idea in theory (included in box) but because of the texture of our brick, it really didn’t work well enough to hold the front of the cushion against the hearth. I really don’t know how that can be fixed due to the many different types of brick hearths are made out of. I would definitely recommend this for protection for children and adults. It’s also super comfortable to sit on.

Very easy installation. Looks great and feels very soft...much better than the typical foam pads you would buy for the floor.
