A Practical Handbook of Archaeology: A Beginner's Guide to Unearthing the Past

I am finding this interesting.

...you can do even better!On receiving my copy, I noticed a scrap of text inside informing that this was part of a larger work, and indeed it is - Practical Archaeology: A Step-by-Step Guide. A little research later, and I find that book is about the same price as the Handbook if you shop around. So I bought a copy.It transpires that the Handbook is the first 123 pages of the Guide, page-for-page.To be honest, I'm a bit miffed that the existence of the Guide (which is hardback, 256 pages long, and uses a marginally taller and wider page size than the Handbook) is not mentioned in the product description for the latter. This did sour my view of what is an excellent work, which deserves the five stars. But there again, that equally applies to the work from which the Handbook was extracted.Consequently, the only reason to consider purchasing this edition over its bigger brother is shelf space. The Guide is not small.

A wonderful introduction to archaeology and a great read, everything you need to know or want to know is here.If you are starting out or aiming to dig up your back garden, then this book is for you, you can't go wrong.

I love this book and perfect if you want to know ALL about field archealogy. It's laid out and written in simple informative way and your knowledge really builds with each chapter.

Love this book. If you love Egyptology or Archaeology then this book is for you.

Not what I had hoped for. No real information as I assumed there would be from the write up.

Our teenage daughter was advised to get this book for her Archaeology course by her tutor. Been very useful for her coursework and assignments and the photos and images make the book more interesting.
