An absolutely brilliant collection of talks relating to decentralized blockchains and bitcoin ...
An absolutely brilliant collection of talks relating to decentralized blockchains and bitcoin from the person who has done more research than anyone in my opinion. Thoroughly loved reading the book and also listening to the talks. Thank you Andreas, you really have opened up several people eyes (myself included) about this amazing and disruptive technology

This was a great read and relevant. I'll get to that in a moment. Let me get to naive. The repetitions in the book version were a bit too many. I did not need to be told constantly that this or that limits freedom. Now I know that these are speeches he gave that were set up like a book and in his presentations, these comments are not repetitions. The editors could have done better. I am far from being a TEC person. He spared me that in practically all of the book. And where he did get into it he watered it down so that I could grasp the basic idea. This is why I gave it a 5 star. For the TEC type and the engineers out there, this is tame stuff. You know it. I learned about the basics as well as the potential of blockchain. I learned about mining as well as new products. He does excite you to go further to learn. Was worth the cost of the book. Looking forward to reading after this The Basics of Bitcoins and Blockchains: An Introduction to Cryptocurrencies and the Technology that Powers Them by Antony Lewis.

I'm new to bitcoin and this book gave me a great introduction on what it is and its disruptive (in a good way) possibilities to change our world in plain, easy English. I learned a few, interesting things that I didn't know before. Biggest example: Bitcoin is many things, its not just currency as most think, but a technology, language, network all in one. It's part of the reason why bitcoin confuses people is because this is something completely new. Another big one: if bitcoin is a technology, then currency is just the first app. So there's more possibilities with this tech? Cool! Also, the author has interesting talks about past innovation / inversion stories and how they relate to bitcoin. The patterns and cycles repeat as the stories and history show, so I believe that bitcoin will be the next big technical achievement that humanity will unlock and this will likely change our lives for better or worse. Not everything about bitcoin or cryptocurrencies are covered or explained in this volume (maybe in the next volume?). Example: I wanted the blockchain explained as the author references the blockchain in his talks. So treat this book as a starting point in your bitcoin studies and look at other resources / books to go further.
