A Real Eye-Opener!
i 'knew' about the spirit of Jezebel because we've run up against it a time or two in the church, but i didn't UNDERSTAND it because i'd never heard anyone really talk about it. for instance, i didn't know that the Jezebel spirit could control men as well as women. duh! i just hadn't thought of it in that way. but it's not like demonic spirits are very discerning...if you're open, they see you as available and bam! i also 'knew' about the Ahab spirit as one of my husband's relatives could have written a book on that subject. but it's taken this book to open my eyes to and realize the difference between a strong, spirited (and Holy Ghost led) person and the Jezebel spirit operating in someone.this is a book i highly recommend to all pastors and lay people who have to deal with controlling spirits on a daily basis. i believe it will help them to understand the spirit, how to pray about it, and how to help someone who has come under its influence.written in plain English so it's easy to understand and follow, i doubt my world will ever be quite the same for having read it. i have a much clearer insight into how both the Jezebel and Ahab spirits work and the commitment it takes to defeat them both. i wish all of my family and friends had this book in their libraries.i know writing this book couldn't have been easy for Mr Samson. the spiritual battles he must have fought to bring this out in the open were probably knee-bending. so, thank you so very much, Mr Samson, for your dedication and commitment to the body of Christ and your willingness to bear any attack to see this through. God bless you!

Deliverance of (and from) Jezebel Spirit
Early in the book, CONFRONTING JEZEBEL: DISCERNING AND DEFEATING THE SPIRIT OF CONTROL, author Steve Sampson states, "God is exposing and judging the spirit of Jezebel in the Church. Hallelujah" (p. 23). That is only part of what God is doing; He is exposing and judging the spirit of Jezebel through strengthening and sharpening the discernment of his chosen ones, who live constantly in the prophetic flow of His Spirit, and who follow Him with uncompromising obedience, that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Sampson does a fair job of developing his topic, confronting Jezebel, both in ourselves and others and does a good job of describing what the Jezebel spirit is like, how it manifests itself. For a more thorough presentation of the etiology (roots) of Jezebel, I recommend Juanita Bynum's book, , and more specifically, her chapter on, "The Seduction of Jezebel." Bynum herself recommends , by Bree Keyton, a book I have not read yet, but plan to soon, such is my level of respect for Bynum's treatment of the subject.I appreciate, perhaps most of all, Sampson's chapter, "You Can Live Higher," about how ardently God wishes to take us above the natural to live in the Spirit, feeding us daily with His Word, Himself. This is the very thing Jezebel opposes. In this chapter Sampson talks of the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues and gifts of the Spirit as a threshold, a beginning of choosing to follow the Spirit, yielding ourselves, following God's voice, and letting Him work in our lives. He points out that praying in the Spirit (in tongues) takes us beyond the reach of the flesh, itself a stronghold of Satan through the Jezebel spirit.Jezebel is a spirit that does not yield to being rebuked. Sampson claims this is because it operates on illegitimate authority, entrenched in the flesh (as works of witchcraft) through stubbornness and habits of demonic thought. Deliverance comes when the person under influence of Jezebel repents and yields their flesh to being crucified daily by God through the Holy Spirit. Bynum, on the other hand, presents that Jezebel is not the root, but is a decoy, operating under legitimate authority, yielded to her, and because of that is not subject to being rebuked; dealing with Jezebel, deliverance from her most destructive capability, comes through uncompromising obedience to God and to God alone. It is sad that Sampson observes, "Honestly, in my years of ministry, I have rarely seen a true Jezebel delivered. Sometimes she becomes temporarily remorseful, but soon she'll go back to her controlling tactics" (p. 21). It makes sense that God would remove all stops in order to deliver those who are being destroyed by Jezebel, if not those directly controlled by her (who may be beyond deliverance, if of a reprobate mind, for example) then certainly those being dominated, intimidated, emasculated by her (something she does so well). Even as Jehu called upon the eunuchs (those castrated by Jezebel) to throw Jezebel down and kill her through defenestration (throwing out of a window), so today God is calling upon those victimized by this most evil spirit to obey Him and cast out, cast down, Jezebel, including in our very midst. The scriptural description of the total destruction of Jezebel should be a sobering lesson, worthy of meditation and prayer as we prepare for each day's spiritual battles. Because this spirit is a master at morphing, hiding under cloak of holiness, getting others to do its dirty work, and much, much more, it requires our greatest vigilance to deal with it in all its manifestations. I am so excited and rejoice to see God preparing his faithful ones for just such a work in these days prophesied about from old.Hallelujah! What a Savior!I have so much more to write about the understanding that God is developing in me about the Jezebel spirit, truths I have not yet seen addressed by other authors, more than I can include in this review, and therefore, may have to write a separate book about same, it is that important of a matter. I plan to keep reading on the subject, in any event. In succinct words, Sampson advises, "The safest and wisest way to live is to keep our focus on God and desire to please Him. He will not fail us" (p. 123), which about sums up how to confront Jezebel, both in ourselves, and in others.Sampson's book is a worthwhile introduction to the topic of Jezebel spirit, but don't stop there: read more, and arm yourself for spiritual warfare, which is heating up.

Real Life, Real Explanations
I purchased this book, suggested by a clinical psychologist in a church we visited, after going through an agonizing three plus year ongoing ordeal with someone who fits the characteristics described in this book. You can look at it from two perspectives: the spiritual one, and the control aspect (borderline personality disorder). Either way, I was enlightened to this type of personality, the characteristics of this kind of person, and how they think. This book, although Christian, expanded my understanding into the secular arena enough to relate to my experiences. It explained to me why I was targeted by this person, explained her actions, and furthermore, provided suggestions on how to avoid this type of person, and many of the conflicts they generate. The chapter "Characteristics of a Jezebel" was particularly helpful in assessing this type of personality. Once you have read this, if you have had the unfortunate experience of this type of this person, you will immediately get chills down your spine. While "Unmasking the Jezebel Spirit" (Jackson) is more highly rated, Sampson's treatise is far more relevant to real life situations outside the church. Jackson's book is more targeted at pastors and church leaders. Sampson's book is essential reading for anyone facing a controlling, evil driven personality in their lives. It will open your eyes.

Great book about control freaks!!! Highly recommended!!!
We all know of control freaks. Probably you have a wife or husband, boss or coworker that is a control freak. Men are just as likely to be a Jezebel as a woman is! This book is an excellent resource in understanding how they work internally and how to spot one.

Very Insightful!
This is a very practical guide to recognizing and removing the Jezebel spirit from our lives and ministry. It is easy to read, insightful, and down to earth. The author utilizes sound doctrine and scripture to present this timely message.

A MUST MUST READ FOR EVERY CHRISTIAN.
This book is essential reading for every Christian believer. This spirit causing havoc in churches, families and marriages. This book highlights the means of entry and the destructive methods this evil and vile spirit uses to cause pain and destruction in the lives of many. The traits and subtlety of this spirit is exposed in detail and conveys understanding in simple understandable language. I managed to read the whole book in two sittings once I received it. Jezebel is powerful, yet this book shows how her influence can be thwarted and its captives set free. I have seen and experienced Many of the examples used in the book, in my own walk and because of this book, I can at last have some understanding as to what really took place. Anyone in Christian leadership, at home, work or in church NEEDS to be armed with the knowledge portrayed in this book. This subject sadly is not being taught in churches and lives are hurting and potentials are being as destroyed a result. Get a copy TODAY and pass it on after.

A must for today's Church.
I wish I'd read this book 40 years ago - I'd understood a lot more of what goes on in churches, as well as what I went through myself. It is unfortunate that I met quite a few 'Jezebels' both before and after I became a Christian, and I can honestly say it's only because of the grace of God that I didn't lose what little faith had. But what damage these people do to the body of the church, as well as individuals. I am so glad books on this subject are now available for anyone who wants to learn more.

Who's pulling the strings in your church?
This book describes a phenomenon that is common in our churches today, as well as, in fact, in business, politics and families. Queen Jezebel thrived in Israel in an age of moral decay and weak men. She was religious, attractive and had a magnetic and powerful personality, and she used these things to oppose the prophets of the LORD. She surrounded herself with weak and compliant men, either false prophets, eunuchs or, in the case of Ahab, people with executive power who could be controlled, like a string puppet by manipulative means. The author argues that we are not dealing so much with powerful, narcissistic individuals here, but we are fighting a demonic spirit which has latched on to damaged people who have not brought their hurts to the cross. There is, in fact, a whole genre of books and YouTube videos out there dealing with this subject. Christians who believe in deliverance ministry will lap them up. Anyone from a Conservative evangelical background, if they read this (which is unlikely) will find the book a little annoying, perceiving that the author sees too many demons. Is there a Jezebel wielding power in your church? Steve Sampson lists forty different attributes, and if someone (male or female) ticks most of the boxes, we could have a problem. When you read the list, you may find light bulbs pinging on above your head as you begin to find out how the manipulative people in your church wield power. Some of these attributes are surprising (turning up to meetings uninvited, playing ‘the counsellor’ in extracting confidential, personal information from you which is none of their business). Most Christians are nice people. Tolerance is seen as a virtue (in England it is even taught in all state schools as a ‘British value’). And this is where the danger lies. No wonder the New Testament has books like 2Corinthians, Jude, Titus, 2Peter and Galatians which warn about people who wreak havoc in the church if we let them. These are not ‘nice’ letters. Does anybody ever teach on them anymore? Our nice fellowships with complex structures, multiple ministries, absence of church discipline and safe sermons are being targeted by Jezebels, maybe just one, maybe even a ‘coven’ of them. Jezebel loves to find ‘Ahab’ types (and Steve Sampson has written another good book aimed at the ‘Ahab’s among us). There are lots of interesting case studies in the book from the author’s first or second hand experience showing how Jezebels have either ruined churches and severely damaged the reputation of the Christian church or been effectively prevented from doing so. Reading this book and thus not being ‘unaware of his devices’ can literally save some churches. If you are at all involved in church politics, do read this book, even though I haven’t given it five stars. So, I hear you ask, ‘why didn’t you give it full marks?’Not because of the premise of the book. In honesty, I’m not sure whether I agree with it or not. For sure, there are scheming, heartless people whom Satan uses, damaging our churches where we let them. In the New Testament, we get one Jezebel, two lots of Nicolaitans (all Revelation 2) and three Balaams (Revelation 2, Jude and 2Peter 2). I guess that there is some fluidity and overlap in these labels. If you disagree, I have spotted a gap in the market. How about storming the Christian book market and YouTube with lurid descriptions of the ‘Balaam spirit’ and how the enemy is using it to damage Christendom?I think I would have been happier if the book had tackled a more fundamental issue. I happen to believe that if we do church properly, for example taking care over how we appoint elders and deacons, expound scripture carefully, ensure new converts have repented and practice church discipline, we would deal with the Jezebels in our churches far more easily. I would have liked it if the author had spent more time on these things. I think that spending time in the letters to Timothy and Titus, as well as 2Peter, Jude and the early parts of Revelation will keep us from some of the demonic problems described in the book. Prevention is better than cure.
