370042 Toggle Bolt, 1/8X3-Inch, 50-Pack

I used these to hang some French cleats on which I mounted heavy bathroom mirrors. Very firm and easy to work with.

Saw on You Tube. 1/4in holds 200lbs. OK. So now I know what to get. Use 3/8in drill. OK. Just happened to have one. Masonry bit but who cares. Perfect hole. Try not to hit a pipe or (gulp) a conduit. So drill small test hole. Then when the way is clear, take the screw part - never mind the toggle for now - and push it all the way in. Flush. As that is where it is going to be - or nearly - when all is said and done. Why? If there is not enough open clear space for the screw to go all the way in and tighten the toggle. That is, if the screw bottoms out on the opposite interior wall or some other obstruction, then you cannot tighten it down. What to do? Cut the screw. Hacksaw will do. Clippers will do. In either case, run the toggle back down the screw before and remove it thus restoring the threads. Get it? Then thread in the item (plate?) to be hung, re-thread the toggle with 1/4in screw extending (so the toggle does not get confused and slip/spin when inside the wall) push it down the hole, feed bolt, hear the click as the toggle springs open, apply appropriate counter-pressure (so the toggle locks not merely spins) and tighten down. Oops! You forget to thread on the plate fist? What to do? What to do? Plan A: Try cutting off the head, installing the plate and using another nut from a similar toggle set (yes, sacrifice it). Might work. I've done it. Plan B: Admit defeat, extract the screw, let the toggle fall into the wall (nobody's gonna see it except the termites, right?) and start over. But this time, do it right. OJT. Practice makes perfect...

Good toggles. The heads on these are almost too small to make the bolts useful, but some washers help when needed. Bigger heads and I'd be a big fan. Good holding power, great size.

Bought a sample of these just to see how they’d work out, then bought 1000 afterwards. All the quality (maybe more) than you get at Home Depot or Lowe’s for a fraction of the price.

Not particularly well made. The ones that work are OK, but many of the butterfly toggles had stripped-out threads, and the bolts pull right through them.So check them carefully before going out on a job where you will need these, and make sure they are working!

Used to hold up a safety hand rod for the aging in-laws. These toggle bot seems to be working well.
