Great value for this set. The drums are attractive and sound great. All the pieces promised I've included in pictures above so people can seem them in "the wild". The the carrying case was better than I'd expected. It's padded (even if lightly so) and has blue piping. The piping isn't a functional improvement but it does make it look nice. The book does a decent job of at least getting you "in there" and conveying unique concepts of the Tabla and traditional Indian musical conventions.The drums, when struck correctly have nice tone (I'm new so I often do not use correct technique lol). They're quieter than what I'd imagine a full on concert set would be. I mention this because for me that's good. I live in an apartment with neighbors who have to put up with my various musical adventures already. So I feared subjecting them to my learning pains on a drum set of all things. But with this set I arrange them on the couch and combined with the foam padding of the couch beneath and the drums subtle tone quality I'm able to play at full power and get good tone while not making people mad. And just to be clear they do have sound they're just not blowing out the place.Anyway if you're looking for a good intermediate set, or a learning set that doesn't really compromise on quality or tone then I'd suggest this set.

The product arrived intact, though I was disappointed that the instructional booklet, "HOW TO PLAY TABLA" by VIKA was not included.The quality is decent, though the larger drum needed some tuning using the included wooden pegs.

This more of a Beginners set.Pros:Shipping was quick and was delivered in 5 days. Packaging was adequate . Comes with a bag and sturdy Tabla/ Duggi cover . Mine was tuned to a perfect C#.Cons:Tabla looks excessively painted, the leather straps are too dry. Unfortunately, I keep comparing it to my "Akbar Miya tabla " back home and This tabla lacks that character.Maharaja Tabla stores also sells Akbar Miya tabla sets.P.S : Don't forget to buy your Talcum powder !

Everything arrived as expected, and as other reviewers have noted, I found that the quality of the instruments is very good (especially for the price). The Bayan is definitely an A+. The Dayan, I would rate at an A-, because although very well constructed, its tuning range is very limited and the leather straps are very dry. I am hoping that this will get a little better over time as the head seasons and loosens up, and once I oil the leather. The Bayan's tone is exceptional. The Dayan's tone I would rate as good to very good. Overall construction quality of both drums is very good. Inclusion of a decent carrying case with carrying straps and latches for the lid is a nice add-on as well.Shipping/delivery are off the chart. I ordered on a Friday, and my tabla set arrived at my door in the Eastern US on the following Tuesday. Amazing.Further, the company contacted me by email around a week after delivery inquiring as to my satisfaction, and to request any suggestions. Very thoughtful, and simply good customer service. I highly recommend both this product and seller.

This has been one of the worst purchases I have done through amazon. About a month after getting the tabla set I get a bill from DHL for customs duty and when I contacted them there are no reply either from phone or email. So I called DHL and they said I have to pay that Customs as the cost of the product is above what is allowed without customs.I was able to locate the place in India and gave them a call and they said DHL shouldn't charge and in this monkey game I the bill is still pending and no body has ever contacted me.

quality is poor

This is the first Tabla set I've ever bought in my life. I wanted to buy a Tabla that's not very expensive because I didn't know how long I would keep playing it. I was totally impressed with the speed of delivery. It arrived from Delhi to my house in California is 5 days! Amazing! Overall I am very happy with it. My only complain is that the 'Baya' is hard to tune. It doesn't exactly sound well, but then again I am a beginner & I haven't learned a lot about tuning. In due course, I am sure it will sound better. I would highly recommend this set for the beginners.
