Great headphones with amazing ANC
I don't generally do reviews on Amazon, but I have to say that getting these Sony headphones in Blue for a discount, also used up some gift vouchers, have been fantastic. I have had other noise cancelling headphones before which have been good, but these are a different league, they are superb at blocking out background noise on my bus commute, sat in the office the hum of the heating system is taken away, but yet if you let the ambient noise in, they are also excellent. I accept they are expensive if bought at full price, but any kind of discount and these are an excellent deal. They are very comfy to wear for hours on end, battery life seems very good, but too early to tell fully. Box and the way they fold is very good, overall I really like these and look forward to wearing them and use them for a mix of music, videos and teams calls. All sound great with plenty of EQ options to tailor to your liking. Overall I like the Sony sound, but I guess if you are a real Bass junkie they might not go deep enough for you, but as an overall round sund it's all clear and sounds good to my ears. A really good and top notch set of headphones.

Great headphones
Have had the xm3,xm4, xm5s and now these. They’re great. The noise cancelling is ridiculously good. Sound is fantastic. They’re not as fragile as the xm5s where the hinge broke for me. Also the ambient sound setting makes it sound as if you aren’t wearing headphones. Connects to 2 devices at once. Great app. I love them !!!!! Got a new cinema mode and it sounds great watching films as well as listening to music. Fits nicely on my head and very comfortable

Superb headphones
I've been waiting to purchase these since release but waited for a better price which finally happened! I've upgraded from XM3's so quite a jump in generations. Whilst I can't comment on the difference between XM4's and XM5's, I can say that the upgrade for me is huge. Sound quality is very impressive, I'm hearing new things in songs that ive been listening to for 30 years+. The clarity superb and the various preset EQ's give a setting for every type of music. Obviously you also have manual EQ if you prefer to set your own. Noise cancelling is exactly as you would expect from Sony and is superb. It's not leagues above the old XM3 but what has improved way beyond my expectations, is pass-through. It's honestly like you're not wearing them when you activate it. They might not be as comfy to wear as my old XM3's - the headband isn't as soft and they do clamp a little tighter. Don't get me wrong, they are still comfortable and I have worn for a few hours at a time with no issues. The newly designed case is excellent and the folding feature makes the overall package much smaller and easier to carry. Yes they are expensive, but they are amazing headphones and in my opinion worth the £330 I paid.

Great noise cancelling, but uncomfortable
Very good, and no doubt the top noise cancelling around, but incredibly uncomfortable for anyone without tiny ears. It was so bad I had to send them back. This is because the headphone depth isn't that much, combined with the drivers angled to stick out into the earphone cup, which I don't understand and makes then way, way more uncomfortable than other headphones and seems worse than the pain felt wearing the XM3, XM4 or XM5. Had to go with Bose QC Ultra instead in the end instead. Another issue is they honestly just look crap and super cheap. Compared to the objectively cool look of the Bowers and Wilkins Px7 s3 headphones for example, it's embarrassingly bad. Lastly, the sound is truly terrible out of the box. It's muddy and disappointing. I genuinely can't understand what they were thinking. However, fortunately, this can be adjusted and then the sound is actually great. So an initial pain but fixable.

Not as good as I thought
Recently purchased these after owning a pair of xm4s Watched a lot of YouTube reviews on these and they got great reviews so wanted to buy a pair and see for myself. First impressions was the magnetic case which is quite cool. No more zips. After trying the headphones on I could tell that the headband was not as soft as the xm4 headphones. Much less padding making it not as comfortable for someone with not much hair. Also the clamping force as others have said is more on this headphone. I wouldn't say its "uncomfortable" as such, but just not as comfortable as the xm4. After 10 minutes of use you can really feel that you are wearing these headphones vs the lightweightness of the xm4s. I also think the angle of the cups are such that they are in contact with each other all the time. Unsure if this will soften up over time. Can see from picture the differences. Regarding the sound I compared both side by side listening to a range of songs on Spotify with the highest audio setting. I would say the sound is slightly better on the xm6 in that its more clear and things seem more pronounced. Also helps within the sony app that there is now 10 bar eq vs 5 with the xm4 so can be tuned better to the required sound that you like. I also like the different sound stages with cinema mode and background music, think thats quite a good little extra. Noise cancellation is slightly improved over xm4 however wouldn't say its drastically improved. Did a few tests with background sounds on (eg having fan on and other sounds too) and the xm6 completely removed the sound whereas xm4 could faintly hear the noises but not massively different in my opinion. The transparency/ambient mode to me was a lot better. No more muffled sound like with the xm4s. Could easily and clearly hear the sound around you. Not tested making a call with these on as didnt buy them for this purpose so can't really comment on this. I think the xm6s look more modern and sleek vs the older xm4s. There is also a more protruding mic in the headphones of the xm6s. I didnt notice it myself when I tried them on however you can see it if you look closely in the headphones. Pros ✅️Great sounding quality ✅️Anc and ambient mode are great ✅️Look stylish and modern ✅️They fold Cons ❌️Price ❌️Clamping force ❌️Not as comfortable as older xm4 Overall I only had the headphones for one day and returned unfortunately and will be using the xm4s which is a shame as I was looking forward to these and wanted to like them more. To me if im upgrading an item it needs to have all the benefits of the last model and the extra benefits and features of the latest model. For me it wasn't there. The headband alone made it too uncomfortable to use for longer than 30 minutes at a time. I'd also say ignoring the price if they were both the same price id still pick the xm4s as would rather have more comfort and for it to have less clamping force vs the extra benefits of the xm6s. Hope this helps anyway. Just being honest and happy to share my thoughts.

Absolutely in love
In love with these - use them around the house, whilst commuting and at the gym and the quality is second to none. The noise cancelling is top notch and I love that when I start moving between equipment at the gym it changes to allow me to hear what’s going on around me but gets me right back in the zone when I’m ready to carry on. The location features are pretty nice too, setting my music up when I arrive at the gym automatically etc. lots of other functionality that I’ve only scratched the surface of but I’m loving these so far. Music control with a touch panel integrated into the headset is intuitive and easy to get along with - I’ve never liked it on my AirPods Pro. Great battery life and good connectivity with my phone and PC via Bluetooth. Great purchase at the Black Friday deal I got too!

After four years with the XM4s, previously having the XM2s & XM3s - Incredibly disappointing.
I'm at a bit of a loss. As the title of my review would suggest, I've been a Sony headphones faithful for the best part of the last decade. So why exactly have the XM6s left such a bitter taste in my mouth? Well... I like Heavy Metal. Very heavy stuff indeed. This sort of music has multiple layers working in tandem and the ability to differentiate whilst maintaining a high degree of sonic impact is paramount to the listening experience. I loved my XM4s so much I kept them the absolute longest of any set of headphones I'd ever owned - Virtually impeccable sound, just got a bit long in the tooth, weren't holding the best charge and looking a little worse for wear after being my daily commuters. I did my research - A lot of it at that. The XM6s were naturally at the top of every tech reviewer's list, I have several chats across different AIs and everything pointed to the same solution: Go for the newer ones, which to me also seemed like a no-brainer given the history I have already explained. The issue here isn't around build quality, features, battery life or comfort - They are every bit as good as my previous headphones if not better in the noise cancellation department and the magnetic carry case is a very pleasant change that made the XM6s very simple to put away. So what was the issue? Sound. Completely lifeless, natural sounding with all layers in my music fully discernable, but stripped back completely of the wallop the XM4s provided. Zero punch after playing with equalisers till the cows came home and again further research to see how I could get them to perform better than they were - To absolutely no avail. Then I thought of the earbuds I use - Bose QC Ultra Gen 1. Best noise cancellation on earbuds having tried the Sony WF1000XM5s and for commuting that made them the best. To my complete shock however, I would now also argue for the music I like at least that the Bose earbuds actually obliterate the XM6s - That's a mad thing. Of course it is highly subjective to the listener and your tastes, but for me this is a line that can't be uncrossed. I do not want watered down sound, I want it to tantalise me the way it always has and expectedly moreso with their very latest iteration. This was clearly not the case. So back they go and it looks like I'll be getting Bose QC Ultra Gen 1 overear headphones instead, given Bose seem to actually understand how my music should sound, as I have been informed the Gen 2 followed Sony in their journey to the bottom of washing out sound. A bit sad given the otherwise faultless history I have with Sony's headphones, but if you have XM4s I would strongly advise avoiding these like the plague.

The New Gold Standard on Silence: The Sony WH-1000XM6 Noise Cancelling Headphones
Sony's WH-1000XM series has long been the gold standard for noise-cancelling headphones, and with the recent release of the WH-1000XM6, they've once again raised the bar. These aren't just headphones; they're an oasis of calm in a chaotic world, delivering an audio experience that's truly in a league of its own. The packaging for the WH-1000XM6 is as premium and refined as the headphones themselves. A sleek, minimalist box hints at the sophisticated technology within, and the headphones are nestled securely in a well-designed carrying case. The unboxing experience feels deliberate and high-end, a fitting prelude to the product. Delivery was, as expected for a flagship device, swift and secure, ensuring the headphones arrived in pristine condition. Visually, the WH-1000XM6 maintain the series' signature understated elegance. The matte finish and clean lines exude a sense of modern sophistication. They come in classic black, and other stylish options, and the overall design is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. A key returning design element is the foldable hinge, a welcome reintroduction that enhances portability and makes them more compact for storage than previous iterations, neatly fitting into their redesigned, more robust case. Picking up the WH-1000XM6, the quality is immediately palpable. They feel remarkably lightweight for a full-featured over-ear headphone, yet substantial enough to convey premium construction. The earcups are luxuriously padded with soft, vegan leather, providing an incredibly comfortable seal that's perfect for extended listening sessions. The redesigned, slightly wider headband distributes weight effectively across the head, further enhancing comfort and reducing pressure points. The physical buttons for power and noise control are tactile and easy to distinguish by feel, a small but significant improvement in usability. But the true marvel of the WH-1000XM6 lies in their performance. The noise cancellation is simply astonishing. Powered by Sony's new QN3 HD Noise Cancelling processor and an impressive array of 12 microphones, these headphones create an almost impenetrable cocoon of silence. Whether it's the rumble of a bus, the chatter of a busy Cambridge coffee shop, or the hum of an aeroplane engine, the XM6 effectively nullifies ambient noise, allowing your audio to take center stage. The Adaptive NC Optimiser intelligently adjusts the noise cancellation in real-time based on your environment and even your fit, making for an effortlessly quiet experience. The audio quality is equally breathtaking. Co-created with renowned mastering engineers, the sound profile is rich, detailed, and incredibly accurate. From deep, resonant bass to crisp, clear highs, every nuance of the music is reproduced with studio-level precision. Features like DSEE Extreme enhance compressed audio, and the 360 Spatial Sound Upmix transforms stereo content into an immersive experience. Call quality is also significantly improved, with AI-powered microphones isolating your voice for crystal-clear conversations, even in noisy environments. The multipoint connection and ultra-low latency via LE Audio make seamless switching between devices and lag-free gaming a reality. The Sony WH-1000XM6 are the ultimate companion for commuters, frequent travelers, remote workers, or anyone who simply craves an immersive and undisturbed listening experience. They are perfect for enjoying music, podcasts, audiobooks, or even just finding a moment of peace and quiet. If you're seeking the very best in noise-cancelling technology combined with stellar audio performance and supreme comfort, look no further. These headphones are a testament to Sony's continued innovation in the audio landscape.
