What an exciting manga

If you're buying volume 3, I'm sure you already know how wonderful Monster is. It's possibly the best manga of all time. If, for some reason, you're reading this review and haven't started Monster yet... go do it, now! Naoki Urasawa is a master of his craft, the storytelling and art in this series are just completely above and beyond anything coming out today. This one (along with volume 1, I have had volume 2 since December) just arrived for me - the book itself is in very good condition and shipped with no damage beyond very minor edge wear from packing that is completely indistinguishable from the shelf wear a book may have after a couple of days (so long as you're like me and actually read your books instead of just displaying them, haha). The colors on colored pages are crisp and bright, and the scans of the black and white pages are very clean and high quality. I love the covers on the Perfect Edition volumes as you can lay them together to create an image (volumes 1 through 3 fit together in a row, together all volumes fit together in a 3 x 3 formation). As of Feburary 2022, some volumes in this series/edition are very hard to come by, and it looks like Viz is slowly putting out more stock of at least some of the volumes. Volume 4, for example, of Monster is still not available despite 1 and 3 coming back in stock. Dorohedoro, by the same publisher, is in a similar situation (though volume 23 of Dorohedoro is currently in stock, there have been people who waited upwards of a year to buy that volume at MSRP, and I'm sure more who will have to wait even longer if they miss out on the current supply). The situation is unfortunate, and definitely something to make note of if you're interested in collecting this or any other Viz series. It seems they don't print enough stock even for wildly popular series like Demon Slayer or JoJo's. This doesn't reduce the quality of the books, of course, and I think they're worth the wait. But, again, this is something to keep in mind if you're hoping to collect a series published by Viz.

I first tried Claymore, Death Note and Dragon Ball which I have watched so knew what to expect. I heard about this one being the best manga for many people so I was ineterested in taking the plunge and trying a manga I have never watched before. I was blown away, I am halfway through book 1 in just a few hours, its such an engrossing story and the premise in Europe is very refressing (Though many of the 'Europeans' seem to look the same in some scenes with big noses ha ha) I actually want to source the anime now but cant find it anywhere.

While the story has slowed down in pace, I’m still really enjoying my time with it and these characters are endlessly fascinating.
