Can the colors in the set be custominzed, ie, green and red or blue and gold?

Hello, great question. If you are going to use the set for strictly decoration, the set can be painted easily and will be long lasting. There are many examples on the internet of customers who have painted our sets for decoration. However, if you intent to play chess with the set after painting, the paint will flake off. This is due to two properties of this set. We have an anti-stain additive that prevents the sets from being discolored. Second, the sets are made to give slightly on impact. It is why they are so durable. We've found that the slight give to the plastic causes separation from the paint, and eventually flaking. It's probably not the answer you were hoping for, but we'd rather you be fully informed. Note - we do sell a fiberglass set that many of our customers paint. Please feel free to inquire. MegaChess

Hi! I was wondering if u have come up with a way to store the chess set when not in use? Or do u leave them out in all weather?

Hi Faith. Thanks for your question. Customers choose to store the chess set for various reasons. Some customers need to take the set in for security. Some only use the set occasionally and set it up for each use. Most customers leave the set out all the time. The sun and heat have no effect on the set. It is both UV protected and has an additive to prevent staining. We have these sets in the Middle East, the deserts in the US Southwest and heat and sun isn't a problem. For storage, we sell storage bags on Amazon specifically for this set under ASIN B015DEIORI (copy and paste in the browser). Four bags are required for this set. I work at an independent school, and finally decided to order a replacement set of large chess pieces for the platform overlooking our rec field. These things are great! Very sturdy and solid construction - much better than the set I'm replacing, which was not from MegaChess. Here's the kicker - this morning, I went to fill the bases with water and assemble the pieces. Turns out one of the bishops and one of the pawns was missing. I messaged the company via the order page here on Amazon, and they replied within minutes! I have the two replacement pieces en route via Fed Ex, should arrive on Friday. Amazing product and amazing customer service. If you're on the fence about this purchase, DO IT! You won't be disappointed.

I’ve had them for over a year now and they are seriously all weather. Only great things to say about giant chess pieces. Very easy to clean, no cracks or breaks. I would suggest building your own board as I did. But definitely invest in the pieces for a great time in the yard.

Not only is the chess pieces MUCH smaller than the photos show (photos are of larger size then what is provided), the customer service was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! As soon as I contacted them, the FIRST response was “It’s not our fault you can’t read. You can return them if you want, but you pay for shipping and lose your initial shipping charges (which is against Amazon policy). Then proceeded to say they can’t take me serious, and I need not even reply to them. Wow! Stuck with tiny chess pieces (more countertop size than outdoor size). This size chess set is avaialbe many places for $100-$175. Definitely recommend shopping elsewhere. I should have listened to the reviews about this company prior to purchasing.
