You really need this, and Suntek is the best.
I bought this 2 years ago primarily as a sun shade for hiking in very hot/sunny and treeless areas of the western US. I'd owned a less well built golf umbrella, that, despite its weaknesses, served me pretty well for one season. This is far and away superior to my old one. First, the reflective mylar top is amazing at keeping you cooler underneath, and much better at blocking out the UV. Secondly, the wind gusset/venting system is phenomenal. My first non Suntek cheapy died in a moderate gust of wind. I limped through and finished the vacation with it, but it had broken pieces and less coverage. Thirdly, the fiberglass construction gives some peace of mind when there is lightning threatening. Fourthly, I cant believe the amazing price. After owning one for a couple of years -- still going strong and surviving many, many high wind gusts -- I can say the quality of materials, design, and workmanship are second to none. I would gladly pay much more if necessary to get something this well thought out. I use it as a trekking pole when not overhead, and it really doesn't weigh enough more than a carbon fiber pole for me to notice any difference. On the ground, augmented with a 15D silnylon rain poncho, I can quickly setup a 360 degree storm or overnight shelter in a pinch. Versatile, strong, light, inexpensive -- simply amazing. Way to go, Suntek! I'll be doing some hiking with my wife and my niece on different trips this summer, and I'm buying another for them to use, and so that I'll have a spare, just in case. Just get one of these. You will not be sorry!

You’ll get your money’s worth
I bought two in 2015 because 2 of my children burn easily and we live in a hot, humid climate. I’m buying two more today ( 10 years later) because I lost them in a recent move. They still worked perfectly before being lost. They were used much in every season and I can attest to them withstanding wind. We lived on the Gulf of Mexico shores and those winds can get pretty gusty (not referring to heavy storms). This umbrella is the only one I’ll use! The colors are nice too! I’ve had the green and blue.

Great product - does make a difference in enjoying outdoors in the heat
I was hesitant in ordering an umbrella specifically for the sun because I was not entirely sure that it would make as much of a difference in the heat as worth the trouble of carrying around and managing an umbrella.I have a golf cart that I push around while I play disc golf and I bought an arm mount for it that can hold an umbrella for sun shade. I was not sure if this umbrella or the entire idea itself would work out but I decided to give it a shot because it gets so hot down here that every now and then some shade is nice. This umbrella went above my expectations. Since I mount it to my cart, I am under it while I pushing the cart which is frequently through the course and that gives me enough time under it to notice a difference. Let me just say, it's REALLY nice! The top is reflective which I assume reflects the light and thus a lot of the heat ( I'm not a scientist ). The bottom is blue which I think goes a long way to make you feel cool as blue is a cooling water color. Also, the handle fits perfect into my umbrella mount and even has a flat edge on two sides which allows it to be braced in the mount more properly than a rounded handle.I recommend this product for mounting to a golf cart or jogger like I have, and I also recommend it to be used as a carry umbrella for the sun because it is not heavy or cumbersome at all.

Nice umbrella
I chose this umbrella mostly based on the positive reviews of others, and to use for taking my dogs outside to potty in our rainy and often windy climate. It will also come in handy at the beach in the summer for my husband who much prefers cool weather and shade. The umbrella is huge, the material is very strong, the wind channels a great idea, and while we will have to wait till next summer to try it out in the sun, I'm confident it will provide a great protective barrier.pros: strong canopy material and constructionbig enough to cover four people, or one person and two dogscan handle the windattractive canopycons: handle quality feels flimsy and doesn't match that of the umbrella canopywith such a big and heavy umbrella, a push-button opening system would be helpful. This one is manual and is difficult to close (I pinched my finger trying to line up the closing apparatusalmost too heavy and wide for a child or small adult to useIn general, I think it's a nice and very adequate umbrella with caution being taken on the handle.

This umbrella is roomy enough to keep the rain, heat, and harmful rays off both me and my husband.
I ordered this umbrella to fit several needs, and it was perfect! My son runs track and plays baseball so I wanted to see if I could make this year a little more comfortable. This umbrella is roomy enough to keep the rain, heat, and harmful UV rays off both me and my husband. I can use it to shield my entire body from the sun when sitting on bleachers or chairs. Other people laughed at me but changed their mind when I held it over them! They agreed that it seemed to reduce outdoor temps by at least 10 degrees. Oh, and by the end of a long day at the baseball fields, people who used regular umbrellas had sunburns, but not us! It holds up well in moderate wind--I didn't have a chance to test it in really heavy winds. It IS large, and that may tempt others to complain when they have it carry it around collapsed, but they won't complain when they need it! I love it!Just a tip--when I use it in a low beach chair, the handle fits into the cup holder, and the shaft leans against the top of the chair, making holding it a lot easier.
