Rag Dolls & How to Make Them Hardcover – January 1, 1994

This book is great for beginners. It gives an introduction to different kinds of rag dolls and how to make them. A list of materials needed is included, as well as patterns. There is enough here to give a budding crafter a good idea about the level of effort and skills to start making dolls. You can photocopy some patterns but others have to be sized up---instructions are included.

I liked this book as soon as I opened it. The pictures and instructions are fantastic. There are many types of dolls to make, with patterns for the dolls and their clothing. I only gave it a 4 star as I was unhappy with the outside of the book. The front was okay, but the back of this hard-bound book has a big dent in it, not a small dent as was described . Also there was a big dent in the spine of the book.I decided to keep the book, as I wanted to make my great-granddaughter a doll for her birthday, and I don't have much time. All in all, I highly recommend this book; the pictures, instructions and patterns are great.

A great book that teaches the art of making rag dolls.

Absolutely delightful dolls graded in difficulty throughout the book, so you start with 1/2" seam allowances and no teeny-tiny arms to stuff and move onward and upward. I urge you to make each doll, for the author introduces new concepts, new skills with each step.A beginning cloth-doll maker can't look at a pattern and assess how charming the result will be -- she'll have to see it in the "flesh." And you'll have a moment to do that before a beloved little girl of your acquaintance sees your work, gasps, and snatches it away to be loved to tatters.

I didn't realize that it was a hardcover book that I was purchasing, the photo was misleading, it came with no jacket cover which is shown in the picture. I love all the types of dolls I can make after scanning and printing the pattern or even using tracing paper to draw out the patterns works best for this book. My grand children are going to be very happy with their home made dolls this Christmas!

It looks like I'd like to read this book but each time I open it to read, my allergies go nuts😔

This is an old book and it has good info but the book is moldy and musty and I can't have it in my house

I Enjoyed reading the book. Some of the doll patterns looked easy for a beginner and some patterns were more advanced (but not so advanced that it would be impossible to make). I like the doll patterns that were chosen for the book. The directions for the patterns were easy to understand. Highly Recommend

This is exactly the book I was hoping it would be! I don’t understand the problem with having to enlarge the patterns. I do it at home on my HP printer. All I do is scan my tracing as a PDF, and then when I go to print I choose the poster setting and the 200% scale. The enlargement then comes out on several sheets which I assemble with tape. That’s all there is to it so please don’t be afraid to order this wonderful book.

Simple, lovely clear diagrams and instructions, contained general helpful information and specific information on how to make a variety of rag dolls, exactly what I needed, arrived within the specified date and lovely condition
