The Putney Debates (Revolutions Series)
Inspiring, stirring and inspirational. Just a few of the superlatives that come to mind when reading this book and realising that this was a chance that this country had that we threw away with the restoration of the monarchy. What a pity that these noble and great ideas in the above book where swept away to be replaced by the dead weight of monarchy to stifle change. Read this book and be inspired. I was. All school children should be taught about the Levellers. We had some great Englishmen in the early 17th century that have been airbrushed from history because history is written by the victors. In this case, the monarchists.

Inspiring stuff
I found this to be an excellent book. The republished pamphlets are radical, inspiring and unlike anything you get in todays stale political climate. The first pamphlet "A Remonstrance of Many Thousand Citizens", written in July 1646, I thought is so relevant today that I wanted to pin it the door of the House of Commons. A great read.
