Great value, works well
I received this carafe today. After inspection, I was pleased with it's appearance and quality. I had read mixed reviews about how well it retained heat so immediately decided to test it upon opening. I boiled water and did not preheat the carafe as recommended. Before filling the carafe with the boiling water, I poured half a cup of white vinegar in it. I figured why not clean it at the same time. After filling the carafe with boiling water, I measured the temperature of the now vinegar hot water solution that filled the carafe. The temperature read 179°F (F is for Freedom Units). After one hour, I opened it and it was at 178°F. Two hours 172°F etc. I forgot about it and returned after 7 hours. Figuring that the water must just be warm, I poured some in the sink and ran my hand under it. That's when I realized, I F'd up.Yes. This carafe keeps the heat in well. After I scolded myself, I opened it and measured the temperature one last time. It was at 162°F after 7 hours only losing 15° and that is with me opening the lid to check the temperature several times. Now in all fairness, it was kept full the whole time so you may lose more heat as you pour out liquid and take in air but I am happy with it.

KEEPS THINGS HOT
I got this for my disabled wife so that, 1) I don't need to jump up, go to the kitchen with her coffee cup and refill it, and 2) allow her to pour a half cup at a time so that the temp satisfies her. I fill it with hot tap water when I go to bed and when she gets up in the morning, I dump the water and fill it with 6 cups of coffee (that's all it holds). The water was still hot when I dumped it out and the coffee stays hot all day long.

Excellent
Doesn't keep my tea steaming hot quite as long as Copco Chloe 1 Quart Thermal Capacity Carafe, White, but still very hot for some hours. If I didn't have the other to compare it to, I'd definitely give this five stars. One thing I like about this over the Chloe is the top being easier to screw on; however, I suspect that ease betrays a little bit of looseness that lets a tiny bit of the heat (or cold) out, making this carafe slightly less effective.

Looks good---doesn't do the job.
The design is nice. However, even with preheating it will not keep coffee hot for 3 hours. I would not buy again.

They are hard to clean well.
Do not take these apart to clean. The glass liner will explode in dramatic fashion. I, unfortunately had to learn this the hard way. I was driven to take them apart to clean them because they get really rank very quickly with regular use. Because of the shape, they are also more difficult to use than they should be. You really have to tip it over farther than you would imagine to pour from it.

Buy this stylish carafe if you have strong wrists.
This Copco 1 qt. thermal carafe keeps coffee hot for well over 12 hours. When I received it, I put took it apart and put it in the dishwasher, then waited hours to make sure each piece was completely dry.No problems with that.Dialy cleaning is easy. I use the Oxi brush I bought with it.Problem is with the design of the carafe. It looks very nice. But, it can be hard to hold while pouring. It holds about 4 cups. With just over 3 cups left, the end becomes heavier than the top. It is necessary to hold the top to open the carafe for pouring, When it reaches the tipping point, it is hard to hold the top and bottom at the same time. Without support for the bottom, there is a lot of weight on the wrist doing the pouring.
