Sexy Swashbuckler Captain Costume X-Small Multi

Loved how comfortable this costume was! I'm a bigger girl at 5'9 and 200 lbs. I typically am a size 14/16. I was concerned about the length because Im taller than average, but the California Costumes women's ruffled petticoat perfectly helped to provide a little more length. I did not care for the how the belt that comes with it looks so I did not use. The hat is soft and comes squished in the packaging, but was resolved using an iron over a towel to protect the material. Am very happy I went with this costume.

I'll start by saying it fit exactly as expected - and I love it. I'm 5'1" and currently 166 lb, so a bit "fluffy," and the XL fit perfectly. I'll go over each part of the costume and mention what I did and didn't like, but I would 100% buy this again if I needed to. This costume makes me feel fabulous and I usually hate the way I look. I would wear this every day if it wouldn't be weird. It hugs all the right curves, accentuates the best, and hides all the rest. Love it!The top:There is a zipper in the back of the top, which I was able to do myself easily, and the ribbon in front comes pre-laced on half of the eyelets. I undid that and ran it through all of them. I didn't pull it tight though, because I had read a few other reviews that warned about pulling too tight and potentially ripping out the eyelets, so I just gave it a gentle tug to tighten the ribbon and tied it up. It was 'low cut' but not slutty, though definitely be sure to at least wear a bra under it in case you decide to lean forward. It rides about an inch or two higher on my stomach than I was comfortable with, but as everyone else did, I just brought the skirt up a few inches and it was perfect! Felt more comfortable, too.The sleeves:Not much to say about them; they are small ruffles of fabric on an elastic band. I like them because they help hide the "extra" I have on my upper arms, but you can leave them off and it still looks great.The skirt:This is probably my favorite part. It's shorter in front and longer in the back, which I LOVE, and it's got three different layers of fabric so buying a petticoat to go underneath isn't actually required. I bought one anyway, but it hasn't arrived yet. Until then, honestly, the skirt looks great on its own and has enough flare to it just from my hips that it doesn't really need any extra fluff. But I'm excited to see how it looks when my petticoat arrives, so if I remember to update this next week, I will. This skirt has an elastic band so it can fit a great range of sizes and hip widths. I brought it up a little at my waist to cover my stomach, and it still went just longer than mid-thigh in front.The belt:This is probably the only part that I was disappointed with. It's just a piece of fabric with a plastic end, but no hook or fastener or any way to hold it in place aside from tucking it into a loop next to the buckle. It's also very short, so it just barely went around my waist. If I can find a safety pin, I might be able to pin the end down and keep the belt on without being constantly conscious of it, but the costume still looks great even without the belt.The hat:The hat is also kind of cheaply made, but easier to fix than the belt. It does come a little squished, and the feather is long and straight rather than curvy and fluffy, but it still looks great (and honestly, do all pirates have perfect looking hats?). I'm going to do what a few other reviewers suggested and steam it and reshape it.All in all, amazing costume. It makes me feel fantastic and I can't wait to find every excuse to wear it. (Also, fun fact, if you take off the belt and hat, it can double as a barmaid outfit. ;) )

Love this costume!! I am 5'7 and 127 lbs. I bought a small. I would say get one size larger than you need! I fit in it perfectly! :)I bought this costume for Renn Fest this weekend! The shipping was super quick too! I picked 2 day, but it came in a day! :) Thanks amazon.As for the costume itself:The Top: The most important part of the costume, and I think and it's pretty good quality for what I paid! :) The strings came weaved every other hole, BE REALLY CAREFUL WITH THE THREADS AND THE LOOPS, THEY ARE REALLY FRAGILE!! DO NOT PULL ON THE STRINGS!! I carefully threaded the ribbon through each loop, the top looks fantastic! And I really love how it hides all parts of your bra!! Including your bra straps!! :)The Skirt: You will automatically need to buy a white petticoat, I REALLY suggest this! It not only makes your costume come to life, but it makes your skirt a little longer in the front! I'm 5'7 and it fit like a mini skirt, and to add about 3 inches more, I added my white petticoat skirt :) be sure to fluff it up before putting the skirt on! :) I love the cascading layers in the skirt & I love the back!The Sleeves: Just like the picture, might be a little uncomfy if your arms aren't used to it. Since my arms are somewhat slim, I had no problems here :) They are probably a little smaller than I expected, and they are just pieces of material, I thought they were going to be a capped sleeve. :) No matter, it all works though!The Belt: I am opting to not use this item, only because I think the belt takes away from the top, covering most of the weaved part for me, and the belt's material itself is pretty cheapy, so I have a feeling it wouldn't really stay on well. If you want to use the belt for this costume, GET 3M CLEAR DOUBLE SIDED TAPE!!The Hat: Was pretty squished, but I am not going to wear this for my costume either. :)Overall: The costume is really amazing & I am impressed with the quality for spending under $50!!! :) Would highly recommend!!

The first one ordered I returned as was a little snug and I'm going on a cruise, so returned it and re-ordered the XL and perfect fit, although hat is a little big, but will sort that...It is a two piece skirt is elastic waistband and a nice length (not to short) I"m 5.2. The top has a zip at the back to allow you to get in and out easy..very smart idea.The hat comes a little squashed but soon comes right.They package the items very well and very fast if there is a problem.

Better quality than most fancy dress costumes. Wife made a good looking sexy pirate, very pleased with the purchase.Easy fitting with zip on the back. XL was a good fit for my size 14/16 wife.Slight niggles that the hat was a bit crushed and out of shape, also the belt is a fabric and doesn’t sit brilliantly (which is a shame as the buckle is rather nice). Note also you will need a sword and and some boots.However, for the price, it is worth buying just for the dress and the top alone.

Was a bit worried that it would be like the many other costumes I tried on but this was the one I finally went for - it fit well, looked lovely, and was good quality. It is advisable to buy an underskirt for it but you can get away with not having one. I'm quite busty so I also wore it with a vest under the top. My other suggestion would be to buy a different hat as this ones a little floppy. I also thought it looked better with ankle boots rather than knee high boots but that might have been because I bought a very poofy underskirt!

In clothes I would take a 10 on my waist and sometimes a 12 on my top, however after reading reviews I purchased the medium 8-10. It fits me perfectly! I'm a 34C chest and as I said 10 waist! The elasticated waistband on the skirt made it easy, the zip on the back zips down and it did so with ease, I didn't even need help by someone else! The only problems were when putting the red lace on the shirt one of the white loops snagged (easily fixed with thread and a needle) and the hat was not in the right shape at all. I currently have the hat with cardboard on it to shape it so hopefully that works! Everything else in the costume is perfect! Another thing that they don't tell you, they include a Breast Cancer Research Foundation pin with the costume and the company generously donated £1 to BCRF with the sale of the product!

Compared to the price of other costumes I expected this to be a bit more better quality, unfortunately it wasn’t great. The top is very short so had to wear a top underneath. The belt has no strap holes so would just slide off. The hat is flat with no shape. The bodice lace does not lace all the way as pictured. Better of buying a cheap costume
