Good book with helpful insights
If you're just beginning with tube amps, this is a good book to start with. It's a fast read, won't challenge your Algebra skills, and should give you enough info to feel comfortable ravaging that Silverface Bassman sitting in your basement. It's certainly a preferable to the Aspen Pittman books I started with. It's worth repeating what someone else mentioned: If you have access to the schematics, save yourself some cash and buy the cheaper version of the book.

great book!
This was to replace thew original one that my friend Howie Esptein(Tom Petty's bassist) gave to me in 1998.. It's been used in my shop for the last 20+ years..

Good discussion of the technical sides of the Fender Amps..... geared toward the vintage
Pretty intense discussions here, not everything that I thought it might be but still a good investment in understanding FENDER and other amps. Not for a beginner to figure out what he is doing with his blackface or silverface

Just What I Wanted
Love the Book its what I expected and is full of the information I was after, its a bit light as far as theory goes but as it was written in general terms for VG magazine readers and is of no consequence. However the Fender info is all in one place which is what I wanted.

This book finds that rare place between chalkboard and the real world. Mr. Funk breaks the tube amp into appropriate components and explains them in real world terms with just enough formula to allow you to understand and alter your own amps if you wish.

Boring vintage fender encyclopedia
Kind of boring. There's a few tricks here and there to sweeten up a fender but that's it. I only give it 3 stars because I was told that this book would pretty much teach me how to build a guitar amp. Well it didn't, it's not its purpose.
