What can I say it works better than the homemade one I made... LOL. My homemade one was fine however, it got beat up pretty quick! I made it with some very thick corrugated cardboard that I had saved from a shipping box, printed out the pattern on white paper and glued it To The top. BUT... I like this beadsmith one way better!!!

The kit contains enough for 2 projects going at one time.Excellent price for an item that's hard to find in my area.

This set is an excellent introduction to kumihimo braiding. The discs are sturdy, thick, lightweight foam that grips the cords well. The enclosed instructions are clear and straightforward; even a rookie like me could figure them out. A challenge to the novice braider is figuring out just how thick or wide a braid your materials will make; trial and error is needed. Another challenge involves putting tension on the braid; I found it easier to grip the braid on the back of the disc or plate with my non-dominant hand and use my dominant hand to work the threads, rather than trying to attach a weight to the braid. Finally, keep the yarn or cord well wound up onto the bobbins, because if they are swinging about on long leashes they tangle very enthusiastically.If you are looking to produce specific braid patterns, I would recommend seeking out a book of kumihimo patterns. The enclosed instructions do not get into that type of detail.

Strong easy to use

I was very disappointed that the Kumihimo kit for beginners came without all the accessories that were suppose to be in the box. It was clear that the box had been opened and torn before shipping. If it was a returned item, it should have at least been checked to be sure it had all it's items before shipping
