Highly configurable, good for vintage phones.
I like the configurability of this ATA, the fact that it can natively accept pulse dialing, and can generate strong enough ring signals for the bells of vintage phones. I particularly enjoy that it allows you to define custom ring patterns. I wouldn't say that configuration is simple, but it is not hard to do if you have the settings to use. I'm using it with a voip.ms account, which provided good setup info so I was able to get it working quite quickly.

Great choice for an analog telephone adapter
My Obihai 202 finally bit the dust. I had been using it as an ATA with callcentric and forwarding my Google Voice number ($3/month). Bought this Grandsteam as a replacement for it. It works great and was very easy to configure. Only hiccup was that I had to change my SIP password to get callcentric to update its user agent and IP address, which was cached I suppose. Bottom line: this is a great solution to get home landline phone service for a great price. Highly recommended if you need a reasonably priced analog telephone adapter for your VoIP service.

Excellent Replacement for the SPA112
This was purchased to replace the Cisco SPA112, which had significant vulnerabilities and was deemed EOL/EOS by the vendor. Integrating it with my VoIP provider was easy, as they provided documentation on configuring it specifically to their environment. The one feature that really sold me was the fact that it supports pulse dialing, allowing me to use my 46 year-old Western Electric 500 rotary phone (the only changes was moving the black bell wire form G to L1 on the 425 network and adjusting the ringer bias to the weaker setting).

No product support
I am not satisfied with this product as it is had to speak with customer service about questions about setting up the product. The instructions are vague and I’ve tried going on line to figure out how to set this product up. I will be returning it.

Preferred ATA w/1-VoIP; voice quality very good; my setup required a bit of networking knowledge
TL;DR: Preferred equipment with 1-VoIP service; easy to install for most situations but might require some networking knowledge if setup is a bit "non-standard"; voice quality is very good. I've had a landline from AT&T for the last 44 years (25 in the current house). Basic service w/Caller ID runs over $80/month, which is a bit outrageous considering that I'm retired now and we both have cell phones and the majority of the calls to the home line is what I consider spam. As I would still like to have a landline, with my current phone number, and at a more reasonable cost, I (re)discovered VoIP service. I decided to try it out. I selected 1-VoIP as the carrier as they have a good basic plan (Value 500; $9 plus taxes per month, with unlimited incoming calls and 500 minutes outgoing to US and Canada) and talking to their agent confirmed that I could port my current number to VoIP. Their Customer Service and Technical Support is available 24/7 and is US-based. According to the reviews I read about VoIP service providers, they are highly rated. They offer the Grandstream HT802 as the analog telephone adapter (ATA) with the plan at no cost (just a shipping charge), but as I wanted to be able to own the equipment, instead of needing to return it when I don't need the service anymore, I looked around and Amazon had it for sale. It arrived 3 days after placing the order, Feb 12 to 15 (wow! USPS delivered on a Sunday!). The ATA is very easy to connect: plug the power adapter into an outlet, plug it into the ATA, connect an ethernet cable to the adapter and the other end to your router and finally plug in your phone. Because I "brought my own" equipment, I needed to call 1-VoIP and give them the MAC address of the adapter. After a few minutes and a re-boot, everything worked. I made a couple of calls to and from my cell phone to my (temporary) VoIP phone number and the call quality was very good. I noticed no echoing or choppiness to the voice but there was a slight delay between "sending" and "receiving" (i.e., latency). I'm sure that's a given with any VoIP service. As for the quality of the audio, my internet connection has been rated at 500Mbps up and down but I think it's really more like 300+. For my installation I needed to access the configuration pages and change a few things. As shipped, the ATA uses DHCP to get an IP address from the router. Since I wanted to connect the ATA directly to my Xfinity cable modem, instead of my router/WiFi access point, this led to an issue. The Xfinity cable modem is operating under "bridge mode" (I did this in order to keep all of the port forwarding details already in my router). This means that the cable modem does not hand out an IP address. So, poking around the configuration I found where I needed to switch from a dynamic IP to a static IP address, in the range of the Xfinity cable modem (10.x.x.x). There are many, many changes one can make to the configuration of this ATA, it seems very flexible if something needs tweaking. As with any VoIP service, a couple of caveats are noted: 1) Service is unavailable when the power goes out (unless you have a UPS on your internet connection/router). This is nothing new for me as we have been using cordless phones forever and they also are kaput if we lose power. Cell phones are our backup. 2) 911 calling is supported via E(nhanced)911. You must register your physical address with your VoIP provider in order for the 911 operator to automatically get your address. It's up to you to keep your E911 information up-to-date. 3) Stable, quality phone connections are totally dependent on your internet service provider (ISP). If you have a flaky ISP, you'll have flaky VoIP service/quality. As I've only had VoIP service up and running for the last week, I don't have any long-term experience to note here. Maybe in a couple of months/year I'll get back here and update this review.

Solid T.38 G711 ATA
The defacto standard for a solid ATA. It actually works really good for Fax machines if you know how to configure the PBX and the ATA settings. I use them with FreePBX and utilize T.38 - Works perfect once you learn all the undocumented configuration steps. They are simple to set up for G711. GDMS cloud management option is actually really handy.
