Accurate, durable, inexpensive … good work watch

What we have here is a $7 watch. If you’re expecting extraordinary timekeeping with a diamond bezel and lizard skin band, go elsewhere. This is a gold colored metal alloy casing (possibly zinc?) with a silicone band. Inside is an inexpensive (obviously) quartz movement with a battery that will probably cost more to replace than what you paid for this watch to begin with. That being said, I’ve had Gediyar watches before. They will last 1 to 2 years before the battery dies and it goes in a drawer for archaeologists to find for some future Antiques Roadshow episode. To be fair, the gold coloring is uniform, if not a bit bright (it does sort of scream “cheap”) and the band fits nicely and, so far, it keeps time without any issues. I dinged a star because it claims waterproof in the title and water resistant down below. It’s the latter, not the former and it even states not to wear it while snorkeling, swimming or diving. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend you wear it in the shower, either. Light rain and handwashing is about the limit for this. Then again, what do you expect for $7 and change? If you can find a less expensive watch in a brick and mortar store with these features, grab it.
