Excellent value
Excellent value book collection for my 11 year old son. I paid £11 for 10 books - value for money is excellent. My kids are not really interested in reading but o do try to encourage it as often as possible. I bought this collection as I remember reading some of these books when I was younger and I did enjoy them. My son has started the first book and said he is enjoying it so far. I am trying to encourage nightly reading before bed for at least 10 minutes. Hopefully these books will keep him Interested.

Good value
Great value for money, costing little more than a pound a book! Very happy kids. As for the stories, Sure, some of them seemed a little outdated (the fashions, the kids' names, the fact there are no phones and children are playing outdoors and are *bored*). Still, engaging srories suitable for tweens. At times the dualogue and relationships seem unrealistic, eg friendships between tweens / young teens of opposite sexes is nowhere near as common and relaxed as the books suggest (nor was it in the 90s!) One can believe in the abominable snowman more easily than the idea of a 12yo boy and 12yo girl being close but platonic friends, without any awkwardness. Some very silly bits in the stories though, like defeating ghosts by doing a silly dance. Seriously, WTF? Even an 8 year old knows that's just ridiculous, and much facepalimg and cringing took place when having to read that absurd narrative. On the plus side, thankfully the Goosebumps books dont include anything too horrifying or disturbing (unlike Beast Quest). Overall, good stories for kids who are transitioning from cutesy jolly fiction to something bit scarier.
