Q: do they have to be refrigerated

No, not this brand. They are shipped unrefrigerated. I have been buying this exact product for a while and can tell you they have never been refrigerated. Supermarket tofu type is always refrigerated in my local markets. PS they will smell rather funky when you open the bag no matter what or which brand you buy, refrigerated or not. Just rinse well and ignore they weird odor.

Q: Is this frozen? Is it supposed to be or stored in refrigerator? Do they expire?

I am also wondering what a typical expiration date is. At Trader Joe’s they are in the fridge section but I have seen them out on the shelf in a convenient store

I bought mine from in September of 2017, and what was shipped was a single package of noodles, and spite of the description saying case of 6. Needless to say, I am sending it back for refund.
