Wonderful tool! Works well and the battery lasts a long time. I checked at freezing and boiling and it read accurately through the full range. It turns on quickly, reads the temp fast, and has a good backlight. I use it for baking, meats, and coffee/tea and I haven’t had a single bad outcome (from the temperature!).

Purchased for making homemade yogurt. Exactly as described -- seems to be accurate, easy to use and clean. No complaints.

I consume lots of hot liquids - coffee, tea, soups, etc. Most end up needing to be reheated, often frequently. My favorite digital thermometer finally expired after numerous batteries worth of service. I tried a couple of replacements but they were either slow to respond (6-10 seconds), or had smallish displays that require young eyes or strong glasses to read. This unit has a large unit display with auto illumination for several seconds. It reads almost instantly, is accurate, and reproducible! The probe is a full 5 inches (others 3-4 in) which helps for deep mugs, pots or various roasts. Battery comes installed, but you'll need a teeny screwdriver to replace it (my only caveat).

I gave it 4 stars. The thermometer works great. Easy to clean. Instant on/off. Good value for the price. I use it mostly for baking so wish the light stayed on another 15-20 seconds so I can read the final temperature.

This is a great thermometer.. It is easy to see, easy to use, and accurate. The probe is easy to clean. Since it is a relatively new purchase for me, so I can’t speak to battery life. I am very happy with my purchase.

Great external temp probe. Worked great right out of the box. Unpacked it and was using it in 30 seconds. The display is crisp, it is small and buttons are self explanatory. Small sharp tip makes it super easy to insert in meat with an instantaneous reading. I also love the magnet because I just stick it to the side of the wood pellet box and never lose it. Great temp probe I use to verify my smoker internal probe. 5–STAR buy!

It works perfect and I wish I hadn't hesitated for so long to buy. I have (had) 4 meat thermometers I've been using, but all my meats were getting hard and dried out so I knew they were cooking too long, but I was depending on the reading. First time I used the Alpha, I also inserted the old ones to compare. One read 120, Alpha read 165. I went with Alpha's and the meat turned out perfect. Digital made it very easy, no guessing.
