The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum, Redness-Reducing & Hydrating Solution for Skin Barrier Recovery, 30ml

I have been using this a month now so its time to leave an honest review because i know the pain (and expense) of finding things that actually work. Bought to help out with a compromised barrier, due to use of a new LED mask, regular use of retinol and also, Perimenopausal skin in general just. I really felt i needed some extra care especially with the winter drying out my skin on top of everything. I was red and rashy around my cheeks. It has indeed been effective, not a miracle but it has gone a long way towards protecting my skin from these harsh elements. My skin bounces back better after the retinol without the stinging and peeling I used to get after using the product. As for redness im definately less red and less reactive. Thankfully i always take pics and date them, under the same lighting conditions, so i can tell if a new product is worth the hype. Also, an unrelated red rash I had on my neck has cleared up also with this product. I would note that it has taken using this once or twice, every day, for one month, for these results. See photos. In terms of the product itself I would say the following, it is quite a thick consistency so I am through half the bottle already as it does not spread easily and absorbs quickly, and it can be a little sticky, it does pill under products of other brands but not the ordinarys brand. I have been using alot though, both on face and neck. These are not things I can deduct stars for because the thing about the ordinary is that they are providing products that actually work and work well at a much more affordable price point and it does exactly what I needed it to do. If I wanted all those extras (like more of it or a thinner consistency even) I would honestly expect to pay more for them and its not the ordinarys responsibility to ensure their product works with other brands in terms of the pilling. If youre struggling with barrier issues then this product will help, it seems to soothe, support, and facilitate the skins own healing of itself as opposed to directly repairing it by some magical means lol. I have used the rest of the ordinary range of products specifically for aging, for almost a year now, and have very surprisingly noted a marked difference in my skin over a year. A friend recommended to me, after her dermatologist recommemded to her. My point being that with the ordinary products, this one and others, consistency of use is what makes a difference and using for a long time. The ordinary state this and having tried the range for long enough I can say that this is true for all the products ive tried. Id note here also if you contact the ordinary direct they will actually write you up a full routine and thats been very handy especially in terms of what to use, or not use together, and the routine was emailed to me after contacting their customer service on site. Very helpful. I come to Amazon if i want the products delivered faster as im so impatient and this serum does what it says it will. I cant fault it because it is so very hard to find things that actually work these days, even harder to find at an affordable price point. 38 year old sensitive skin on a bit of a budget, found yet another effective solution from a well known affordable brand that is backed by science and actually delivers.

I’ve only been using it for a week and I can already see the difference in my skin! It’s smoother, brighter, and my acne scars are slowly fading; plus I don’t think I’m breaking out as much. Again, it’s only been a week. Definitely worth the money spent and high quality product.

Wow! This was a last ditch effort to rescue my super sensitive, dry, irritated skin after a winter of blustery weather and hard water. This is like gold! I had low hopes, having tried much pricier, highly touted potions, but this is amazing. The morning after applying it for the first time my stinging skin had calmed and was visibly less red. Two weeks later after daily use my skin is comfortable, smooth and no longer burning with every face wash, I will repurchase this forever!

My skin had red patches and I’ve been using this for just over a week and can see an improvement. Makes your skin feel silky and hydrated. Easy to apply and decent price.

Magic! I tend to get blotchy red / congested skin on my cheeks in the lead up to my time of the month. Prior to that, I only need to wear tinted moisturiser as my skin is pretty clear and even. When I have the skin breakout I use another brand green corrector, and full coverage foundation - I need a big cover up and I hate it! I’ve tried a few things and while perusing some other Ordinary products saw this and had an aha moment. I used it twice a day a few days into the blotchy breakout and I can verify the redness and blotchiness was visibly improved within those intro days. I’ll look forward to seeing its impact for my “day one” bad skin next month! I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you recognise this issue and see if it works for you, as it’s also good value for money so not a big outlay if it isn’t quite right for you. It’s nice to put on, a little bit runny as it’s in a pipette and can be dripping a bit before you release a dose drop, but not bad enough that I’ve made a mess or wasted product. It is very pink! But blends in instantly, no residue or stickiness for me.

This serum has been a core part of my routine during the winter months. I noticed that I was hardly effected by the harsh cold weather that usually ends up drying out my skin. My skin feels hydrated and balanced. One 30ml bottle lasted me 10 weeks. Great value and is on sale fairly often!

This is the GOAT! After one use, my skin is visibly glowing, especially good after home micro needling to recover the barrier. It's very nourishing.

This serum is amazing if your skin barrier needs support. It feels very lightweight, absorbs quickly, and layers beautifully with the rest of my skincare without pilling. I’ve noticed my skin feels more elastic, calmer, and less irritated, especially on days after using actives like retinol. It doesn’t have a strong scent, which I personally appreciate since my skin can be sensitive. Application is very easy, the dropper works well and the texture spreads smoothly without feeling sticky or heavy. For the price, the quality is excellent.
