The tried and true Zebco 33 has landed more fish than one can count. This version was an excellent choice for my wife. It’s simple to use and the drag adjustment has a short learning curve. This was an excellent choice as my wife is not concerned with becoming a master angler; she just wants to go to our farm pond and catch fish. Hook, reel, and land. She has landed small panfish to some large hard fighting catfish. The downside is with her landing more fish I have more to clean and I have to gleefully endure the ribbing I get when she catches the most fish and biggest fish. Upside is my gear is safe from birdnests and broken tips. This allows us to have some enjoyable time together and I don’t care if I ever catch a fish because it provides her joy and happiness. Additionally, it’s her pole. After raising 5 children it’s important for her to have things like this that the boys don’t want to borrow and as the grandkids grow she can regale them with her stories of the “big fish” and not the despair of how many broke her line.

This is a great rod for a child or other beginner. Unlike the last two rods I bought, this one does not get tangled all tangled up. It is so easy to use that my four year old was able to catch three fish with it. The six foot length is noticeably longer than other rods but actually makes it easier to cast farther. And it breaks down into two pieces for easy stowage and transportation. As a man, I had no qualms about using a “ladies” rod which is exactly the same as any other rod except for the purple tint.

I haven't use it yet, but it seems pretty strong & sturdy. The that comes with it is a 10lb line, so keep that in mind. The pink color is subtle pretty without looking "too girly" or in your face pink.

Looks like a nice rod and reel. Tie a lure on and fish.

I bought this product to start fishing when i am at the lake. The handle is a perfect size and it’s easy to set up. It’s lightweight and has such fun colors. The casting with this product is so simple and makes it so much fun. The value was amazing for what i spent. I would say this could make a great gift for anyone who just likes to spend time out by a Lake or River!

Ordered for my wife as her old one broke. It's a great, easy to use combo. Only reason I gave 3 stars is because the USPS packaging was horrible. It looked like someone used it as a bat. The rod arrived broken in 3 places, and the eyes all bent. Atleast they offered to send a free replacement. Hopefully this one arrives intact.

Updated April 9: The replacements arrived this weekend and are complete. These appear to be good fishing reels and poles for our small lake. I have raised review to 5 stars. Original review: Ordered 2 of these. One for my wife and one for my daughter. Just opened the amazon box and both top halves of the poles were missing. I double checked the box and no top halves. I have processed and return/replacement and will update my review pending I receive 2 complete rod and reels.

Purchased this for a gift for our new daughter in law. We are a big fishing family and wanted her to have her own equipment. The pole and reel are good quality and construction. works great she has caught several fish on it already and is happy with the colorful rod and reel combo. BTW replace the line on a reel you buy that come with line. You never know how old it is or what kind it is.

Item is good for beginners. The cast line is basic. Good for kids and catching small fish.
