I have shopped Amazon for over 10 years and have never taken the time to respond on a products positive/negative aspects. Until now. The Etekcity lantern is a superior product and at a low price. I was hunting for household flashlights for usage during an electrical outage and found this item during that search. I wanted something using double A batteries as all the flashlights are and something that could sit on a shelf without looking like a lantern, and then work when needed. The 360 degree LED light comes on when you pull it out of the canister and the amount of light can be regulated by how far it is pulled out. Quality material and good looking - and works. Price was very impressive also.

I purchased these mainly for power outages to replace my old battery eaters. We had a power outage and I didn't have enough "D" batteries for one of my old camping lanterns! We had an another outage with these lanterns and they worked perfectly. It's amazing how much light they put off for such a small lantern and they are light weight. I'm very happy with this purchase.

The lantern is bright and has a long run time. The flashlight is fine in a pinch but not very powerful and not adjustable. Construction is lightweight, just be aware that you’re trading poundage for durability. I like the variable strap position though wish the clips were secured better. Those pressure clips will get lost in an instant. Overall a fine purchase for the money, just be reasonable about your use cases.

The volume of light in the flashlight and lantern nodes is excellent. The packaging is perfect for gift giving. The operating instructions are clearly written in perfect English is a real plus. Great for emergencies or when the lights go out. This is the second Etekcity product I own. The quality of these products are exceptional. BRAVO to Etekcity and AMAZON.

I like the features and brightness of this lantern. Unfortunately one of the lanterns terminal bridge was broken rendering it unusable. The customer service people sent me an email shortly after my purchase asking if I had any questions about the product. I sent a return email describing my problem but frankly was not optimistic about a response. To my pleasant surprise I got an email response within 24 hours from customer service. After a brief exchange of emails with very quick turnarounds, they resolved my concern to my complete satisfaction. I was very pleased with their excellent customer service and would purchase their products again.

bought these for my mother so she can be safe during power outages, etc. She keeps them in different parts of her house. She loved them so much, i bought a set to share with another family member. Seems like a really well-made product. love how you can switch from lantern to flashlight, and how the lantern lights up just by pulling open the top.

I threw out both lights the first day of use while camping. The first light's bottom lid became stuck after it fell off (as they do ver easily) and when I tried to get it off it broke leaving a jagged edge too sharp to keep. The second was dropped from a chair about a foot from the ground and the bottom came off along with all the insides of the lantern. My husband couldn't get it back together and we threw it away as well. Besides the bottoms coming off easily the lanterns are made from a rigid, cheap plastic. I'm really disappointed they didn't even last one evening camping. The light itself, with the lantern and flashlight, would have been nice had the rest of it not been so cheaply made.

We found the lantern to be lightweight, bright and compact. It is also flimsy; we hung the lantern by it's handle and the handle broke within 2 minutes; the lantern fell onto a wooden cabin floor and shattered. So for me it cost $20 for a single lantern. If you get the lantern, you'll need to reinforce the handle with duct tape.

I bought two, and one won't turn off when I collapse the lantern. I had to turn the battery round the other way to turn it off. Being a camping item, I tested it when it arrived and it worked and it stopped working on the first use away.....4 days after the 30 day Amazon returns. This would not happen with a reputable Australian retailer, who would recognise it as a common product fault. How do I have my faulty light replaced under warranty, the fault appeared the first time i used it

Nice and light. Quite bright and can be used a number of ways.

I bought these lanterns in case of blackouts. They are a fabulous idea. You can use it as a lantern and you can change the brightness by how far you open it. One lady said she couldn't use it because it was too bright! If you're reading this, only open it part way and it's not so bright. Amazing! You can also use it as a flashlight which is extremely useful. On the good side, one of my Lanterns works perfectly, and I have used it and I have been absolutely enthralled. It's lightweight and easy to use. On the bad side, the second Lantern will not turn off even when I slide it closed. I have to take out a battery and turn it around. So next time I go to use it, I have to take that battery out and turn it back around again, in order for it to turn on. If the company is reading this, i would sure LOVE a replacement?? I did notice someone else said that their Lantern would not shut off. I have joined their group. I would have given this five stars had both of them worked. Since only one works I've dropped it down to three stars. I feel that is a little harsh on my end because the one that works really is amazing! Maybe I'll get a replacement and I will change my review.

Pros: Fairly bright and easy to use. Light and compact. Cons: The lanterns feel cheaply made, so I don't imagine they would stand up to being used while camping.

Great - very useful - both a lantern & flashlight in one and 2 in the pack - speedy delivery - good value & just what's needed in current winter power crisis.
