The Blacklist - Season 05 [DVD]

A big secret is revealed but we still don't know why
Season 5 is non-stop action again. Kate is gone and Red is broke and in need of rebuilding his empire. We find him living in a motor-lodge and by all accounts he can make the best of any situation. We find him renting a house for 3 days that is robbed, but he thinks his enemies have found him and tried to kill him. He sets out on a quest to find out who is trying to kill him and stumbles onto the plan and convinces the thieves to look at a bigger picture and starts to rebuildhis empire. Later in the season we find that he is well into the mid 9 (figures i.e 1/2 Billion+) and has more or less recovered. He even has another Gulf Stream.Kate had done a lot of damage to him and it seems that a bag of bones and a DNA test are about to do even more damage. This season the FBI Task Force gets more people from the blacklist and we learn more about another daughter of Red's as well as the crooked Marshal Ian Garvey who becomes the main nemesis of the season. We see how the FBI learned the art of subterfuge to gain access to Ian Garvey and how Liz also learned so much about the art of deception in an effort to learn a truth that Raymond does not want her to know. The fake Raymond never made any "bones" about who he was and everyone just assumed that he was Raymond Reddington. Clearly if we think back to Season 1 and the meeting with Fitch we can recall how even Fitch thinks that Raymond has changed so much. In an earlier episode, Naomi knew the truth but said nothing and in this season we find that Raymond wants to see Naomi but we find that Naomi is "dead", or is she? We now have Jennifer to contend with as well as Liz and the task force. There are still more secrets to peel away and why the fake Raymond thought he had to assume the real Raymond's identify. I hope it was for a good reason (i.e. out of loyalty he did so to protect Liz), but we won't know until Season 6 or later if there are more seasons. Clearly the show can go on for a while, but only fans, the producers and the network as well as the actors can determine that. I am now looking forward to Season 6.On a side note, the 100th episode was a fun one to watch. Just when you think someone pulled something over Reddington we find that they did not.

Smart, Smooth, and Old School
The Blacklist, well without James Spader there is no Blacklist. Spader does one of the best acting jobs I have ever seen in Newtwork T.V. This is the FBI, The Government, The CIA, and then James Spader who is the unflappable antihero. A criminal who is yet the good gut with some hard-core ethics. So interesting and fast paced. Have to pay close attention as it goes. Also a great cast around Spader which works like a well-oiled machine. Went through the 9 seasons in a matter of month. Deep emotionally draining and so funny in a special way with Spader at the helm.

So engaging, so smart, every segment a cliff hanger . . .
OHHHHH, THE SPIES, THE SPECTACULAR CAR CRASHES, the odd characters, the fabulous backdrops, the guns and blood and bodies everywhere . . . and all the hats and endearing snarky remarks and inside jokes!!! I really enjoyed this smart spy/crime adventure on another subscription channel -- I binge-watched all of the previous 4 seasons and couldn't wait for the current one on a national broadcast. I've had Amazon Prime for several years -- this is the first video I've watched. How silly is that? I was dazzled by all the well-known guest stars that complemented the very talented ensemble cast. I'm hoping there'll be more BLACKLIST seasons . . . hint hint hint . . . I marvel at all the great videos I CAN WATCH WHEN I WANT on Amazon Prime!!!

I purchased Season 5, but it only goes through ...
I originally was irritated because my purchase of The Blacklist Season 5 only went through Episode 18, even though there are 20 Episodes. What I didn't realize is that the show is still airing - so Episodes 19 and 20 have not been released yet. My bad - I thought the season was over. I'm assuming that when the final two episodes air they will be added to my purchase.

Love the Blacklist!! James Spader plays role of Raymond Reddington so very well; almost like role was made for him
My wife and I love the Blacklist. We have never missed an episode through the five seasons. It is the best show on tv. James Spader plays the role of Raymond Reddington with such amazing talent; it's as if the role were made only for him. Each week the stories get better and better...We are treated to more of Reddington 's secrets and getting more people off the Blacklist. It was great to finally confirm a long lingering question between two main characters throughout the five seasons. This show just keeps getting better and better. NBC please keep the seasons going of this show and keep Liz, Red and the task force busy with getting more evil doers on the Blacklist!!!
