Good tasting chocolate.
Good chocolate. Melts in your mouth. Has kind of a German Chocolate taste. Maybe a bit sweeter than I expected. I got the 87%. Maybe next time I'll try the 95%.

Fat Bloom - melted chocolate
I’ve been ordering this chocolate for months and it’s amazing and such a unique flavor. It is always packed with some sort of dry ice . It has always been perfect. Well I like it Florida and right now the weather is brutal. I’ve been wondering if it would eventually arrive melted and it did this time. So I put it in the fridge and it got hard again but its color, texture and taste were altered slightly. My daughter is a chocolatier and I know from her experience that the coca butter was melted and then it returns to a less stable state. It’s not spoiled or moldy or bad . In fact it’s a totally unique flavor. So if this happens to you, I would recommend keeping it and breaking it into chunks and enjoy it. It was a little tricky with the packaging but it’s still worth keeping. The company does a great job of protecting it as best as possible.

It has a bitter sandy taste.
As a very old consumer of chocolate, I have to say this is the worst chocolate bar I have ever tasted. It has a grainy, bitter crunch like it is lacking cocoa butter. It’s very inconsistent with each bite. Some bites taste sweeter than others. It’s also extremely overpriced for the small amount you get. Will not be buying this again.

New Experience in Dark Chocolate
I love dark chocolate and these delivered a new experience. They are course chocolate, so not your typical melt in the mouth type. The taste is a bit different and I think closer to what dark chocolate should taste like. This has become my favorite brand.

DEPENDS ON WHY YOU'RE BUYING.
I bought this chocolate because it was listed by Consumer Reports (and others) as having a relatively low amount of heavy metals (specifically lead and cadmium). So if you buy for this reason, it may be a good product. There's no way for me to test heavy metal levels so I am assuming 3rd party testing is accurate. However, if you are buying for taste, well it may take some getting used to. It has a gritty, sandy texture. It is a different experience than your usual smooth chocolate and it is a little bitter - but that goes with the 70%. The one star deduction is for the taste.

Good flavor, gritty texture, low metals
Like other reviewers, I sought out Taza after the alarming December 2022 Consumer Reports exposé on heavy metals in dark chocolate bars. Taza's chocolate was one of only a few that had "safe" levels of lead and cadmium. Anyway, this was quite troubling, so I looked them up and figured I'd give them a shot. I'm a big fan of dark chocolate and concerned about ethical sourcing of cacao beans. The brands I've enjoyed most before (Green & Black's and Equal Exchange) fared poorly in regard to heavy metals. I can't say that Taza is better in taste than my favorite fair trade dark chocolate bars, but it isn't a big step down. The flavor is solid without being too fruity, bitter, or sour. I'm not convinced the stone grinding process gives it any particular advantage, though. The resulting texture is very different than conventional bars and takes some getting used to. Some dark chocolate is better experienced by letting it melt on your tongue or chewing; I can't say either one is especially favorable to the Taza bar. The sandy texture is present no matter what. I will say that the texture is not as unpleasant now (into my third bar) as it was at first. Would I choose this over a smoother bar with similar taste? Definitely not. But until other manufacturers deal with the heavy metals contamination issue, I'm okay camping out here for the occasional square of chocolate.

The best tasting of all the dark chocolate bars that I've tried
I've tried various dark chocolate bars, and this is my favorite. I partly chew one piece at a time to fragment it and then let it melt in my mouth. It is truly delicious. And importantly it is all organic and very low in metals.

Best dark chocolate I’ve ever tasted
Wow! I didn’t know what I was missing until I tried Taza’s unrefined, stone ground, organic chocolate. The flavor, freshness and quality really stand out, like trying fresh, artisan bread for the first time. I had this 10 minutes ago and have a lingering aftertaste where the mild sweetness intermingled with the rich chocolate flavor hints at cinnamon and raspberry, but it isn’t flavored. Those flavor notes are from the chocolate pods themselves. The stone ground texture is very even, like chewing ground hazelnuts (there’s no hazelnut flavor). I bought this after reading the Consumer Reports article on lead and cadmium in chocolate, where the Taza brand was the best rated organic dark chocolate for much lower traces of those metals. I’m hooked.

People are complaining about the texture but I don’t mind it. If anything it’s something different than the usual.

This was excellent chocolate. Loved the texture, choc was properly 80% dark, not too sweet. 9/10, will buy again.

Well the quality is excellent but a bit too strong for my taste, I melted it and added a bit of honey and lots of Almond to it and now it’s great.
