incredibly useful for crochet too, despite it being for knitting
I have fibro, and recently took up crocheting again. Holding tension as well as holding my yarn was proving to be incredibly difficult. This is for separating knitting colours, but it works for me for crochet as well. My tension could use some work but it's improved drastically and helped my poor aching fingers immensely. It is, however, very small. I have incredibly thin and long fingers so I have no personal problem with chafing, the plastic biting into my skin, or tightness, but I do not recommend it for anyone with wide or stubby fingers (stubby fingers may get the edge of the guide riding up on your cuticle, which is very unpleasant). (I should note that I have a ring size of 5.5 - 6, which is smaller than most of the sizes that I've seen from other reviewers by at least one, if not one and a half)

I love it and can't crochet without it!
I was getting blisters from crocheting before this. I tried the metal ones expensive and not very adjustable. These are a little snug for me in the beginning but I stretch it out. I have purchased around 8 of them. Not because they break but because I misplace them. I haven't had one break. They keep their shape over time. It had negative reviews but the metal ones were never the same size if I over stretched it I couldn't shrink them. After getting the right size then loosing them or misplacing them it was getting expensive and frustrating. So far after over a year of using this brand and type of yarn guide I love them! Won't purchase anything but them. Great value for your money. Just keep them away from curious puppies and cats as their teeth have negative effects on them and aren't reusable aftwards. ;-)

Speeds up my three stranded knitting though not very comfortable to wear.
I learned to knit as a little girl, but I started knitting in earnest when I started homeschooling my oldest child. He required constant supervision and I needed something to do besides asking him if he was done yet. (The adult version of “are we there yet?”) Being a type A personality, I constantly sought new knitting challenges until I found myself knitting intricate lace and knitting with more than one strand of yarn at a time. (I also learned how to spin my own yarn from fleece shorn from sheep.) Traditionally, stranded knitting (knitting with more than one color) involves working with only two colors of yarn at a time. However, the modern Dale of Norway patterns, which are incredible, require carrying three strands of yarn at a time. With two strands of yarn, I merely hold one in each hand while I knit, which I find simple to do. However, the minute I need to be responsible for three strands of yarn, I cannot do it. In search of help, I purchased the Clover Yarn Guide. WHAT IS IN THE BOX: One plastic yarn guide that resembles a ring straight out of a box of Cracker Jack. The top of the ring snaps closed over the yarn providing small tunnels for each color. I have only used it with two strands of yarn at a time carrying the third strand in my other hand. WHAT I LIKE: Only one finger must be devoted to carrying yarn with this guide and the rest can hold the knitting needles. The guide consistently keeps the yarn in the same place on my finger. Once snapped closed, I have never had any issues with the guide popping open or giving me problems. It works. WHAT I DON’T LIKE: Because I use yarn strands at different rates, I am constantly fidgeting with the guide to fix my tension. The plastic ring pinches my fingers which are slender. I can’t wear it for long periods of time. CONCLUSION: I would rather use this guide than not. It has sped up my three stranded knitting. I would recommend it on that basis though I prefer double stranded knitting to triple stranded.

Too small for my fingers
I was hoping this would help me both with double-knitting (2 stands) and learning to purl comfortably in Continental (1 strand). Unfortunately, I'm a man with man-sized hands and this is just too small for my fingers. If I get it to the point where it will stay on my fingertip, it cuts off circulation and my fingertip goes numb. I've seen some other ones that are coiled wire -- maybe they will expand enough that I can wear one without going numb. I realize that most of the people wearing this are going to be women with smaller fingers than mine, but there *are* more male knitters out there than most people think. My dad told me about a lot of servicemen learning to knit during World War II so I feel I'm just carrying on that tradition. :-D

Can position them up or down on finger
While I’m still getting used to them, I love that I can have it sit ant the tip of my finger or push it farther down for your comfort and tension. Just tried them for holding 2 colors of yarn for a fair isle stocking and it worked great! I positioned the yarn in first and last slots for worsted weight. Excellent price and you can drop one in different project bags.

small and flimsy
this thing is so tiny! this barely fits on my finger. I wear a size 6 ring and I'd say my fingers are on the smaller end of average. I was going to use it as a finger guard for crocheting since my tension is rather strong and after a few hours I get a string mark on my finger. Even if this were to fit, it is way too flimsy to be of any real use. I think I'm just going to make a finger guard myself, from cutting leather or crochet with cotton. So disappointed.

Works great for me
This works for me. I didn't have much hope for it but it's simple & works. My tension when I crochet is now even. I couldn't believe how easy it worked. My fingers are average+ size & it fits, stays in position & doesn't hurt my finger. True, it is plastic & probably over priced but for me worth every cent. With use it will become more pliable. I'm still amazed at how easy the thing works to get tension even!

Great concept, device too small for average size fingers.
I’m an avid crocheter and was hoping this little gizmo would help me mind my yarn. I do not have very large hands, but even worn on the end of my finger as designed to do, this is rather tight and uncomfortable so I don’t use it. I could see it being useful for children learning to crochet, who may be having difficulty keeping their yarn in place.
