Great for kids
I purchased two of these rocketrods for my two youngest. I didn't expect much, or expect them to work very well, but I was pleasantly surprised! They were very easy to use, even for my five year old. For once, I was able to sit back and enjoy the view and not spend hours respooling fishing line, pulling hooks out of trees/clothes/passersby! Very, very nice! Especially used with a really good fish repelent, oh, I mean bait!Buy one. You won't be sorry!

Kids love the rocket roods.
Please be advised , These are TOYS ,not pro tournament fishing rods and serve a great purpose as TOYS. They work great for keeping kids occupied and interested in fishing. I keep two of these in my boat for the grand daughters. They each have their own fishing rods and know how to use them but they are kids and will get bored eventually so when they do get bored I just whip these out and let them play for a while. Great for fishing panfish that will bite almost anything at times. My kids are happy so I am happy.

Huge disappointment
I wonder how many people actually catch fish with this rod. We bought two of these at 30 bucks a pop. We have twin sons and they were so excited to use these. They shoot fine (about 15 feet...not 30) but the problem is with the capsule (bobber) that holds your bait. It tends to not release the hook that holds the bait. You aren't gonna catch much of anything if your hook is still inside the bobber. I was discussing the rod with a friend and she said her daughters did the same thing. Its a great idea, but it just doesn't work for some reason. I think we will be returning these and getting them a plain old fishing rod. We were out for over 2 hours and no bites. Maybe because they didn't have anything to bite into.

immediately broke
My daughter was SO excited to get this, but the first time we tried to reel in the casting bullet (EXACTLY as per directions), the line broke and was lost in the reel which I had no choice but to take apart, thinking the line would be fairly easy to recover and put back together. NO. I'm a relatively mechanically inclined individual, and rarely do I give up on a project because I can't fix it, but this was a serious pain in the - neck. I suppose I could replace the reel or spend a few hours messing with it...oh yeah, I don't actually have a few hours to dedicate to that, so...to the garbage it goes. Very disappointing.

not as good as it sounds
I was very excited at the concept of such a rod and bought three--one for each of my sons (ages 10-4). however, after trying these, we discovered it was very difficult for even our oldest to set up himself and they kept getting tangled and jammed. we had problems with the hook not releasing when it hit the water too. we took them out on a fishing trip with a group of our friends--I have to give them credit--every child wanted to try this rod, but for the work we had to put into each cast I would honestly just go back to a regular rod. it's a nice novelty item that still needs a little work.

Great yard sale find
My grandson found this fishing rod at a yard sale and paid a whopping 50 cents for it. The line had been broken and was wound back into the reel. I brought it home and my husband took it apart and found that the nut on the front of the reel had been put on wrong so the reel spool cover was on crooked. Easily fixed. It shoots great, and we have had NO problem with line tangling inside or the sinker/hook/bait not deploying properly. I wish they still made these. I'd like to have more for the other grandchildren, but will NOT pay the $50 to $150 to buy some I've found online. This was a real deal for 50 cents at that yard sale.

Really Fun way to Fish!
Me and my 10 yr. old son love the rocket fishing rod! We even managed to catch some fish with it. Takes practice to master but once you learn how to use it from the instructionall Dvd that comes with it you will enjoy the Rocket Fishing Rod too! Fun for kids and adults alike.
