Great beginner metal detector
The GreenRex Metal Detector is an impressive choice for both beginners and experienced treasure hunters. The bigger LCD is bright and easy to read, and the new DSP chip really improves accuracy — I was able to quickly tell the difference between trash and valuable finds. The waterproof 10” coil works perfectly for beach use, and it handled wet sand and shallow water without any issues. Setup was simple, and the pinpoint feature is very precise. Overall, it feels sturdy, performs reliably, and makes detecting a lot more fun.

Works well when you get used to it
I'm new to metal detecting, so this is a first hand experience as a beginner. The unit feels well made, certainly good enough as a unit to start out with, and I'm sure for more advanced users as well. Only real concerns about it as a whole is the weight. Maybe I've not quite got the hang of it yet, or maybe more expensive ones are lighter, but it feels like it could balance better.Detecting works well, though the beeps take a little getting used to. Different pitches indicate different metal types, from iron through to coins or more precious metals. Some settings allow what metals are detected to be limited so that more worthless metal can be filtered out. There's also a precise mode which makes it easy to pinpoint the metal location after finding the general location.I found a good signal which was indicating as better metal, but turned out to be a section of lead roof flashing. Nearby were a couple of rusty nails. But it found them easily and the handy trowel included was able to dig them out. Overall a good system to work with and a great start to a potential new hobby.

A really enjoyable introduction to detecting.
This is the first time I have used a metal detector of any kind and I feel this GreenRex device has been a good way to start to learn. It comes in a large nicely branded box, takes a little bit of putting together but it was straightforward and also the two required batteries are included. Then you are away. Well, initially there are a lot of settings but it does come with both a quick start guide page and a 20 page manual. The manual guides you well through the various settings and options.I haven't found anything 'that' exciting as yet but I've had a lot of fun using it. The price seems to jump about a lot on this device so its hard to judge value but currently it is selling for just over £100 and it seems good value at that as something that can both serve to get you started and it still good enough and has enough features for you to use this for some time.

Great value and good quality excellent introduction to metal detecting
I have used metal detectors at work and have always found them to be a great addition when searching for metallic items especially ones that may have been buried. This metal detector is very easy to use and the settings are easy to understand you will be finding things in no time at all. It’s light enough that you could metal detect for hours it’s not heavy or restrictive in any way. This one even comes with a small shovel to enable you to dig up your finds, you will quickly realise that there is a lot of waste metal in the ground such as old tin cans and cans of pop bottle lids horseshoes you name it you will probably find it. It’s worth mentioning that you should obtain permission to metal detect on land as it can affect what happens to the find and you could also be seen as a trespasser.. this particular metal detector is at a level where it is more functional than the budget items out there, you can spend more but for the amateur metal defector this particular one is more than enough. When using it it will give you an indication as to what type of metal it thinks it is detecting. you can adjust the settings and sensitivity as dependent on where you are you may just be getting hits all the time. It’s a fantastic piece of kit for the beginner metal detector and would make a fantastic gift for someone with the option of starting a new hobby..

Exceeded My Expectations. A Detector Worth Every Penny.
Sometimes you have the real privilege of finding something that exceeds your expectations. This is one of those times. From the moment I opened the box, I could tell this was going to be a treat. The presentation, the thoughtful introduction from the company (who clearly care about their product), the clear manual, and of course, the detector itself all made a great first impression.I’d say this is perfect for a beginner to an intermediate detectorist. Everything you need is included: headphones, shovel, detector, and bag. The unit folds up or comes apart quickly thanks to well-thought-out components. Naturally, I had to try it right away, and I’m pleased to say it works flawlessly. It gives different tones for different targets, which soon becomes second nature to recognise what you’ve come across. And it displays clear information on what it’s picking up. it’s very accurate.I haven’t yet tested it on the small Roman road near my home (it’s only a matter of time), but I did take it into my garden, much to my wife’s disapproval. Within minutes, it was correctly identifying junk like aluminium and nails, saving me time. But then the magic happened: after only 20 minutes, I unearthed an honest-to-God, 1816 George III shilling. Yes, I polished it with Brasso (I know I shouldn’t have; I can hear detectorists shouting now, Sacrilege!) But I was so proud of my find, I wanted it to shine. I still owe the Mrs a bottle of wine for all the little divots in the lawn.Yes, it’s on the pricier side for this level of detector, but with results like that, you really can’t argue. If you’re considering a metal detector, I highly recommend this one. You won’t be disappointed.
