I absolutely love this series! I first discovered it a few years ago after seeing fan merch for it at Anime Expo's Artist Alley, and I've been hooked ever since. Originally published as a webcomic in an infinite scroll format (where you read by scrolling vertically, often with different pacing and large visual reveals for those not familiar with the term), the transition to a printed, page-by-page format has been handled really well by the editorial team. While there are definitely moments—especially with bigger monster reveals or emotional beats that show off the gravitas of the moment—that felt more impactful in the scrolling format, this printed version does a great job of reworking the layout to suit the book format. In this particular volume, you can really tell they’ve found their rhythm. The panel arrangement is clean and flows like a traditional graphic novel, and the use of white space between panels is now consistent throughout, which makes for a smooth reading experience.
