**UPDATE: After posting this review I was contacted by customer service. I hadn't reached out to them because I viewed my issue below as a result of my own carelessness that caused the bent lightning male end. I've had the same thing happen to charging cords as I lay in bed etc. so I chalked it up more actually to apple's poor design with lightning than anything else. The seller wanted to notify me that the product was still in warranty and would be eligible for replacement. I would encourage anyone who needs this tweak to be able to use their gimbal, to contact HalaFoto with any issues with your adapter. They've been great to work with and overall I think it's a pretty ingenious little gizmo.So overall this was awesome, it does throw your gimbal out of balance though - you'll either need to obtain or create some counterweight (if your phone is already at the max weight limit for your gimbal) or you'll have to rebalance when you are or aren't using it.The only other issue I've had with it is you have to be careful not to bend it. I left it plugged into my phone and put it in my pocket and the lightning adapter stem got a little bent so now I don't have super confidence in it that overtime it won't just keep bending and eventually break off; necessitating a new adapter. Not super expensive though - definitely worth it if you need to charge or need to use an external mic or something.

HolaFoto 2in1 Adapter:Just received the HolaFoto 2 in 1 adapter I ordered for my iPhone 7 plus. Arrived 17-days sooner than expected, order came from somewhere in China.Came in the via USPS, nice easy open package.First test plugged into lightning port of my iPhone 7 plus while in phone case, cool.Second test plug in lightning charging cable into lightning bolt side of adapter. Wala it works, phone is charging, cool.Third test plug in lightning earbuds, listen to music while charging battery. Ok, attached lightning earbuds in earphone side of the HolaFoto 2 in 1 adapter / splitter. Message box pop up on phone screen. This device not supported, not cool. However, after clicking the ok button, earbuds work, and battery is charging, that’s cool.Now for the main reason I purchased this lightning splitter. Use an external Rode video micro shotgun mic with my iPhone 7 Plus, and Smooth 4 gimbal. Will it work: record audio, will smooth 4 & phone balance. With the HolaFoto 2 in 1 adapter, and Rode smartphone audio input cable attached?Good news, it works, Rode video micro works, Smooth 4 works however, with HolaFoto 2in1 Adapter attached into lightning port on my iPhone 7 plus. Cannot adjust smooth 4 where Phone will balance properly with gimbal turned off. Turning Smooth 4 on, motors balance phone and seems to work ok. I believe the next step, come up with a counter weight that will help balance everything better. Allowing for everything work while putting less strain on Smooth 4 motors.

I got this adapter to enable connecting an external microphone to my iPhone X while it is attached to a gimbal which blocks the lightning port. The Holafoto adapter connects well and it fits while using the gimbal (Zhiyun Smooth 4). And the charging end of the adapter works well. But my need for the audio port seems to not be supported. I need to connect my Zoom F8 portable recorder via USB so I can use an external XLR mic (that is connected to the Zoom) as my microphone source. I have the Apple lightning to USB adapter dongle. This works to connect the Zoom when it is connected directly into the iPhone's lightning jack. But, when the lightning to USB connector is connected to the HoloFoto adapter, the Zoom does not show up in apps as a microphone source. I believe the note in the seller's description which states "data connection to computer not supported" may provide a clue. It appears the reverse -- data connection (or any USB connection) from an external source will not be recognized by the iPhone when using the HolaFoto adapter. That all said, I'll be keeping it to use for charging and for audio monitoring via earbuds. But, unfortunately, that was not my main purpose or need for buying it.

Cheap little adapter for wired mics. A lot of people wrote about it coming apart quickly, which will definitely happen if you aren’t careful with it. It’s cheap, and it feels like it. However, knowing that straight out of the box I knew to handle it gently and I’ve had no problems. The only other option would be to go with a Bluetooth mic.

Just received this product to work with my iPhone 8 and Zhiyun Smooth 4 with Mova external Shotgun MIC. At first it was stating that the iPhone was not reading the device but I flipped it around and reinserted and it appears to be working just fine now.It Is being discovered using Filmic Pro. If you have complications try switching it around or use a different port for mic.IPhone 8 running IOS 12

This product allows me to hook an external mic such as a rode video micro to my iPhone X while using the Zhiyun smooth 4 gimbal. I had trouble with my first one but the customer service was excellent and quickly sent me a new one and checked in numerous times to make sure it all worked as it should. One star removed because the first one did not work.

Bought in January 2019. When this adapter is plugged in and you attach a set of earbuds using the same dongle I use for the mic, it works. When I remove the the earbuds and plug in the Rode Mic it doesn't. When I remove the adapter and plug the dongle with the mic attatched, the mic works. I have an iPhone X.I bought a second one thinking that the first one was broken somehow but neither of these adapters work. You can't offer the produce as useful when using the Zhiyun smooth 4 when it doesn't work. I don't understand why some people are happy with this product. The mic doesn't work. Go back to the drawing board
