Works even on Scottish midges
I live in North Yorkshire and thought the midges here were bad. Alas, an unscheduled trip to Ayrshire last summer showed me that the midges south of the border are disorganised and ineffectual compared to the vicious onslaught of the Scottish ones we encountered at Loch Doon.Locals recommended we buy Smidge, the only thing they rated to keep the bitey w** f***ers at bay, but it sells out in the shops quite quickly in summer. Every inch of bare flesh we had was testament to the midges’ voracious attack. So this summer, when we returned to Loch Doon, I made sure we were prepared. We covered every last bit of skin with either clothing or Smidge and, despite the clouds of midges that descended upon our little group, we successfully managed to eat a picnic without injury or the subsequent red bumps and itches of the previous year. With that said, even with Smidge on your skin, the little sods will go for your scalp if you leave it either uncovered or un-Smidged. While copious amounts of product in your hair may be effective, it’s not a great look, so make sure to have a hat to hand to supplement your protection.A can of this stuff is now always in the boot of the car, ready for any outings into the countryside. It may not be the cheapest insect repellent out there, but it works brilliantly well on the midges we were dodging. Well worth spending a bit more in my view to avoid days of itching and irritation.

Works a Treat
I used this for the 1st time in Greece last September and it was amazing. I never even had one bite on me. I usually have at least half a dozen bites.I have bought some more to be ready for this year's holidays.

Smidge - smells ok, if you aren't a vampire
It's not perfect, but it's by far the best of the anti-little-biting-boogers sprays. It does slide off if you are Captain Geatty Swit after a couple of ours, but does work otherwise, even when trying to bathe in a cloud of midges.Rubs in easy, doesn't feel excessively greasy.

The best
It is the best repellent, smells quite nice and not greasy. That said in Scotland in summer nothing can fully repel midges enough as they still come close and will go for any tiny patch of skin they can access which doesn't have it on. They will go for hair and behind ears and neck. Use this in conjunction with a midge coat. It works in a garden situation but out in the hills last weekend the only solution was to pile into courrour bothy and close the door. Still love Smidge and bought 2 more bottles

Actually works !
The pesky biting insects have been treating me like an all you can eat buffet, so purchased this . I tend to spray some on my hands and apply pretty much all over ! Particularly around neck, shoulders, waste band, legs and arms and torso . Since using this I've had no bites which is a relief after starting to look like the vampire like critters were leaving a message in braille on me .
