Buy Watch Repair For Beginners: The New Essential Illustrated Handbook on Horology to Learn the Basics of Watch and Clock Repairing by Stanley, Esmond (ISBN: 9781917554138) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: good - good Review: Bizarrely written, repetitive and inaccurate - I’m not sure what to make of this book. Feels like it was written by an 11 year old for a school project. Read a couple of chapters on the kindle and then skipped to the end to leave this comment. Because I’m reviewing in the app I can’t copy paste quotes, but any book that calls the Balance Wheel a balancing wheel and fails to label it (or the pallet fork) in the diagram above is woefully inadequate. It calls the mainspring a battery twice. The final FAQ is something like “can a human body run down a battery?” And has some bizarre explanation Very glad I have Kindle Unlimited and didn’t have to pay for this.

Not satisfactory as a teaching aid.
While the book certainly contained useful information, I'm glad I only paid Kindle prices, as I would have been more disappointed with hard copy prices. The book lacks a thorough teaching structure, for example when a process for repair is described, it steps over procedures and activities that require skill and descriptions that have not been previously explained. This may not be an area that is particularly easy to cover in print, but I think there is considerable scope for improvement.

Run away!!!
This book is a waste of good money if I could leave no stars I would

A bit disappointing?
I was hoping for a bit more detail? And, perhaps understandably, the focus was on modern quartz watches rather than older mechanical watches?

I found no information on the author, so I'd assume it's AI-written

An excellent book for those interested on watchmaking or just curious about the field.

I have collected watches of all kinds for many years and some unfortunately no longer work and when I saw the book I immediately wanted to buy it. I found it really comprehensive and contains a detailed guide to watch repair, with descriptions of the movement, watch parts and common stops of wristwatches. It is written in clear, simple language and with helpful illustrations that enabled me, with the necessary equipment, to repair my first two watches with ease. I am very satisfied.

Absoluta basura. Es literalmente una estafa.

I am confused: almost no pictures, definitely no pictures of any deeper meaning, no illustrations at all, vague texts offering no real guidance, especially not for beginners. To me this "book" (less than 100 pages) was a total waste of time and money.
