When I purchased this portable radio through Amazon a few weeks ago I was exited about the USB-C charging capability which is included on this GA-5E. And I must say it didn't disappoint, as the charging is quite fast. Having USB-C on a radio which I carry around next to my mobile phone is really a great idea and it makes the use of the radio so much more convenient. This should really be standard on any battery powered radio. The use of the radio is very straightforward, with an easy to use menu structure. Personally I would change the order of some of the menu items. E.g. the settings for repeater shift are about half way in the menu, so it take a lot of "clicks" to get to these settings. Not important when one uses the radio mostly in memory-mode, but when traveling and using VFO or frequency-mode, it just helps to make it a little bit more convenient when the basic radio settings are grouped one after the other. A convenient feature is the addition of a flash-light. It's just enough to find your way in the dark and bright enough so that you could use this as an emergency (blinking) light. The radio itself performs well, with clear audio and good reception. With 5 Watt on VHF and 4 Watt on UHF I could access every repeater which was clearly audible. While the build quality of the radio is of a high standard, I noticed on two occasions when I accidentally dropped the radio on a hard surface that the battery would get loose of the topside. There was absolutely no damage done, but I had to remove the locking at the bottom side so I could put the battery back in place. I looks to me that the notch at the top-side of the housing should be a little bit larger to prevent this from happening. All in all I'm very happy with this radio, especially considering the cost, which is absolutely affordable.

Das sehr preiswerte chinesische Handfunkgerät ist gut verarbeitet und macht einen guten Eindruck. Aber auspacken und funken geht nicht. Es erfordert eine aufwendige Programmierung, zu der ich nicht bereit bin. Ich habe mir stattdessen ein japanisches Gerät für 76 € gekauft, dass ich direkt betreiben konnte mit der Besonderheit, bei Relaisfrequenzen schaltet das japanische Gerät die Ablage ein sonst nicht!
